johnnyzip84
Zips are apparently 10 point favorites. Seems a little high to me. Should let us know a lot about what to expect in the MAC, IMHO. Zips have not been in a game this year with a final spread of less than 9 points. Will that end tonight? Dr Z
The last time we were favored at home by 10, we pounded Detroit by 19. Anybody that has lost total faith in the Zips can get almost 6:1 odds for Marshall tonight. Another Zips home game, another winter weather advisory for Summit county. Amazingly accurate. Step it up boys!!! :gun:

bigsix0
It looks like Elijah Pittman(6-9, 220lb leading scorer, 21.4ppg) was indefinitely suspended about a month ago. They don't have much effective size otherwise. Their tallest guys who gets significant minutes are 6-7 and 6-9, although 6-9 guy only averages about 16 minutes per game. Zips should have a decided height advantage at all positions but PG, but that could change with Quincy running point. i would think this is a game that Tree should dominate
Dr Z
Incase anybody was wondering if the game would get canceled because of weather, the answer is no (per ticket office). Marshall is in town.
Dr Z
EA of the PD writes a little on the Akron Marshall game. Keith Dambrot said the biggest challenge right now with the Zips is building team chemistry. That aside, the game should offer a stiff challenge for Akron's defense as Marshall is averaging 84.2 points a game. The Zips inside muscle will have to flex as well, considering the Herd is one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, averaging 39.4 boards per game. Dave in Green
This is the 9th and last game in the dreaded 19-day Zips marathon. They've been dragging the last few games, and have had only one day off since their last game. They did not appear to be full of energy against Coppin State. That's why I previously posted that I wasn't expecting to see a sudden turnaround in this game. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see the Zips blowing out Marshall. I see them grinding it out and taking care of business, but looking shaky enough doing so that ZN.o will be hit with another round of "what's wrong with the Zips?" Hilltopper
I've decided to just stay home tonight and watch the game on the webcast. The roads are horrible and not likely to get better anytime soon.
Quickzips
I've decided to just stay home tonight and watch the game on the webcast. The roads are horrible and not likely to get better anytime soon. After crossing the car up about 3 or 4 times on the way home I'm doing the same. Love me some Zips basketball, and would have loved to have been there tonight, but sometimes you have to know when to say uncle.
akronzips71
I missed the first three minutes. No Tree?
Balsy
I missed the first three minutes. No Tree? He got two invisible fouls in the first two minuets.
Balsy
I'm absolutely done with shooting these 3's. I used to like 3-pt shooting...but now we can't hit any of them. If you can't hit them, don't shoot them.
Quickzips
3 early fouls on Tree. Not a good sign. Going to need Harney, Cheatham, Forsythe and Johnson to step up big time. Zips can't hit the broad side of a barn right now.
akronzips71
Big Dog playing one heck of a game. Steals and points. Is he the new Tree?
Dave in Green
Since my chauffer (@Hilltopper) wisely decided not to drive tonight, it's a rare missed home game for me. I was starting to think it was a good game to miss until Big Dog hit 3 of 4 shots in 2 minutes. Not pretty so far, but at least the Zips are finally in the game. akronzips71
Now I have to say it. Big Dog having a great game. So he comes out. This rotation stuff has to stop. PLAY THE HOT PLAYER.
Quickzips
Now I have to say it. Big Dog having a great game. So he comes out. This rotation stuff has to stop. PLAY THE HOT PLAYER. I hate to say it, but our ball movement looks MUCH better right now without Tree in there. We aren't just trying to either force feed Tree or force a 3 if he isn't open. Dave in Green
Big Dog 5-7 with 3 rebounds and 2 steals in 7 minutes. I see a new direction for this team.
Hilltopper
How about Bettencourt. He hits a three and two free throws!
Quickzips
Anybody else get a weird feeling that we are playing ourselves right now? Marshall turns the ball over a lot. They aren't getting good PG play. They don't hit their FTs. If they jacked up a few more awful 3's they would look just like us.
Dave in Green
I was just about to say two sloppy teams.
akronzips71
There it is. Messing with the plugs again. Audio about to go south.
zippyfan34
Anyone know if Big Dog was recruited by Marshall at all? He is really playing with a chip on his shoulder out there tonight. I know we can't expect this every night but the future does look bright.
akronzips71
Big Dog is getting mugged. The refs are blind.
Quickzips
I'm not sure either team really WANTS to win this game. Just a lot of slop all over the place. Not pretty at all.
