johnnyzip84
MAC hoops 2013-2014 is like a box of chocolates. That's the way to bounce back and prove the doubters (including myself) dead wrong. Special kudos to Melo.....fantastic game for Betancourt. The Hip Zip
Gosh... The game is so much more fun when you hit your shots. We punched in the mouth early and they dug a hole from which they could not escape. One of our better efforts. Reminded me of the last Ohio game last season when Kretzer had it going. Order has been restored................. for now.

akronzips71
It is a nice webcast. I can't get it full screen on I.e. or Firefox, though. Zips came to play, look like a different team from Saturday. Still some sloppy turnovers, but probably about 1/3 as many as in the previous MAC games. Anyone else rather see Big Dog out there for some of Pat's minutes? He seems to have lost all confidence offensively. Ctl+the +key makes the screen bigger. (Zooms in) If you have HDMI out, you can watch on your TV. Set the external TV resolution to 1080p and the TV should be able to zoom full screen. zippy5
I think the wins at OU and EMU are more indicative of this team than the dud vs Toledo. We can lay an egg once in a while (which scares me since our season comes down to a couple nights in March), but we're still a step above the MAC. Unfortunately, so is Toledo. skip-zip
Funny. Frenchy said something in the pregame about discussion the last few days about how we play with a lead. I've seen plenty of lazy play with this team with a lead, and tonight was no different. Good thing we hammered them in the first half. Does it seem to make sense to everyone else that starting Kretzer is a better way to find out if he is going to be "on" or "off" on a particular night? He might be good for a couple of extra wins this year if he gets on a streak like that again as a starter. Based on playing time tonight, does it appear as if Pat and Deji might be the victims of the lineup changes?
RowdyZip
A big fat 0 min for Deji makes me think he's ill, but it wasn't mentioned in the pregame or injury report. Anyone know anything? We played 9 guys tonight...small rotation (for a Dambrot team).
Derrt
I think KD went with this ine-up because we needed shooters to go against that 2-3. Wouldn't be surprised if Deji and Pat are back in the starting lineup.

Wouldn't be surprised if Deji and Pat are back in the starting lineup. But, that wouldn't explain Reggie's diminished role tonight. And Nyles would have played more than Carmelo if that was the case. And Big Dog playing more than Pat? This was a major shakeup, to say the least. It didn't end with just a different starting lineup.

phil
Keith finally went with the players that are producing and it paid off great dividends. Pat did not play well on Sunday and looked slow tonight on the boards. Big Dog got more playing time. Evens has not shot the ball well and has added nothing on offense. He did not get many minutes. I thought Benecourt had a good first half on Sunday. Keith gave him the start and played his best game. He was patient on offense and faked the 3. He hit is only shot. He showed Keith that he can play under control. If he can keep this up we will be much better team Harney, Q and Tree should start every game. They play well together. The fast start tonight was the difference in the game. I thought he should have benn using this starting lineup the last 4 games. Kretzer had the hot hand and got lots of minutes. He also hit the boards hard and picked up numerous rebound. It was a fun game to watch. I think playing time should be earned. I hope is the starting lineup for the rest of the season. Dave in Green
Maybe Coach Dambrot secretly reads ZN.o and waits to make the big change everyone wanted just when everyone had given up. How about these final game minutes: 37 - Tree 36 - Jake 34 - Q 28 - Melo 27 - Nick 13 - Big Dog 10 - Reggie 9 - Pat 6 - Nyles Coach really rode the strong horses tonight, but who would have guessed who all those horses would be? Tree and Jake aren't that big a surprise because they both have great motors. But I'd just posted in another thread before the game started that Q hadn't really shown that he had 30+ minutes in him. And whoever imagined in their wildest dreams that Melo could play a strong 28 minutes without going down with leg cramps? What a contrast with Toledo that always starts the same players who play the same minutes game after game. The Zips are Forrest Gump's box of chocolates. Dave in Green
Special props to Melo for going 1-1 from the field, 2-2 from the free throw line late in the game, and a spectacular assist-to-turnover ratio of 8-1.
