Are You Ready For Some Football

I anticipate some significant changes to the 2 deep before MAC play begins. I too, am surprised by Boyett not being on the 2 deep (he didn't play in the last scrimmage, wonder if he's injured?) and Givens not being a starter. Sliding Pittman inside puts Hollis with the 2s. That tells me we have a pretty legit d line because Keontae is no slouch. The news that no freshmen are on the 2 deep shows how far Bowden & Co. have improved the roster in a short time. Can't wait til Thursday.

That's a lot of bodies but not a lot of size. Hopefully guys stay healthy and eligible.

We really need Brown to play. Then if Boyett gets back we actually have some depth on the o line.

???? There are 11 guys over 250 pounds. I dont want 15 fat 300 pounders. Give me the 250-275 pound guy that can move and throw in two or 3 stout guys for the middle. The MAC isnt exactly a pound it down your throat conference.

Zipmeister & Buckzip. What fantasy world are you living in? Our d linemen are fantastic. The Zips don't play in the SEC. Hello.

Semi-interesting facts from two teams at either end of the DI spectrum.

Florida State has 18 linemen (including DT, DE, & whatever) on their roster.

The average weight of these players is 298 pounds with 9 of the 18 checking in in excess of 300 pounds.

Idaho has 16 linemen on their roster.

The average weight of of these players is 282 with 6 of the 16 tipping the scale above 300 pounds.

I'm with you; I think our defensive line is good, especially given their limited size.

ESPN College Preview Magazine has the Zips ranked 115 in the nation...with Can't State (98) and Ohio(106) ranked higher. I know the Zips have a history of being bad, but in what Universe does a 4-8 Can't State rank higher than the 5-7 zips. LAZY reporting.

These people pay no attention to anything outside of the power 5 conferences. Just sit back and enjoy the "upsets". : )

It's always worth noting when the court jester takes time out from his normal duties to exhibit the fundamental mathematical skills to add a series of numbers, divide by the appropriate number and cite an accurate average. It may be coincidental that it occurred within hours of Northern California's biggest earthquake in a quarter of a century.

I would have been more impressed if he gave us the median of those numbers divided by Pi and then supplied the square root of that number.

Knowing that statistical analysis is DIGs forte, I knew that I would take some heat by supplying the numbers that I did,

Now I suffer the slings and arrows of the Grate One - ouch.

This game is WELL down the line, but even the Ball St local reporter is a believer in the 2014 Zips (as evidenced by his game by game predictions).

Akron, Oct 25

The whole Zips-on-the-rise prognostication is probably going to burn a lot of folks because it just looks like the kind of mirage that burns people every year. And hey, it will burn this prognostication too. Last year's Akron team showed pop in the running game and stout defense, but the passing game struggled with a first-year starter. Terry Bowden has shown a knack for high-powered passing games (including the 2012 edition of this team). If he gets that going this season, Akron will be a threat to the Cardinals. Akron 31, Ball State 28.
