Balsy Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Looks like a solid commit. Seems to continue the theme of Bowden bringing in kids who will develop into solid players Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted September 8, 2014 Report Posted September 8, 2014 Hustlebelt has a story on Trey's commitment."I am still going to be in contact with other coaches, and visiting other schools, as I do not even have tape yet for other schools to be interested in me, but Akron was highly interested in me off of my looks, and what they saw from my spring film. Akron is an up and coming program, and as long as Coach Bowden stays, we will have an oppurtunity to be great. Coach has been turning the program around, and I expect great things from them this season." Quote
Balsy Posted September 8, 2014 Report Posted September 8, 2014 Folks, I'm gonna state this again so it's on the record (again) but Bowden will finish his career here. Akron is the Bowden family's last stand. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted September 8, 2014 Report Posted September 8, 2014 The Bowdens are faith-based folks from the south. Now it appears there is an opening at a faith-based university in the south. If we make a bowl game this year they are sure to notice TBHC. Just sayin...http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11490096/june-jones-resigns-smu-mustangs-coach Quote

Zipmeister Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 "I am still going to be in contact with other coaches, and visiting other schools, as I do not even have tape yet for other schools to be interested in me..."Sounds like a strong commit. Quote
Balsy Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 I don't even know what that means...why do you commit to a program, when you plan on visiting others. Makes zero sense to me. Quote
Buckzip Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 Holding your spot if nothing better comes along. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 9, 2014 Author Report Posted September 9, 2014 Yep. You make sure you have a scholarship. If you don't commit, somebody else might do it and then the school would pull your offer because they only take so many recruits at a position. Quote
Zipmeister Posted September 10, 2014 Report Posted September 10, 2014 Normally, this wouldn't be a good strategy as the coaches are doubtless aware of his "I'm still looking" post.Schools with a packed recruiting class would recruit right over this guy and pull his offer. But, in this case there are so many unfilled slots in the recruiting class, his strategy is likely to be successful. In any event, I believe there is about a 3% chance he winds up at Akron. ZachTheZip Posted September 17, 2014 Author Report Posted September 17, 2014 Donterio Fowler interview Quote
Balsy Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Love the interview. Donterio seems like the type of kid we want to bring here. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 @MDrago59: Mifflin QB Jan Johnson has given verbal commitment to Akron, Mustangs coach Mick Vecchio has confirmed #pahsfbHere's a recent article on him. Doesn't mention if we offered him a scholarship.I added what recruiting profiles I could find to the list at the beginning of the thread. Quote
Dr Z Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Mifflin QB Jan Johnson has given verbal commitment to AkronI assume he will be majoring in engineering. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 Aren't we already QB heavy? Not really. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Get as many fast QB's as possible and turn some of them into S's and WR's. And then you also never run out of backup QB's. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 Aren't we already QB heavy? He'll be playing LB. He is a PIAA wrestling champ. Quote
