johnnyzip84 Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Dayton Chaminade QB Jacob Harrison commits to the ZipsA 6'1 190 pound, signal caller, Jacob, who attends Chaminade Julienne in Dayton, doesn't just display a very strong arm, but also fantastic speed. As a sophomore for the Eagles, Harrison passed for over 3,300 yards, and 19 touchdowns, while also rushing for nearly 600 more yards, and 13 more scores, to help lead his squad to a 6-5 overall record, and a state playoff birth. 1 Quote
Balsy Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 "Akron is a program on the rise. They almost and should have beat Michigan last year. I have been to many of the big schools, such as Tennessee, Ohio State, West Virginia, and Michigan State, and I don't like any of them more than I like Akron." I absolutely love this quote! THIS is the kind of guy we need to be recruiting, and if it's true that he's one of the top underclassman QB's in the state...than this is a wonderful get. Now it will be interesting to follow his Jr and Sr seasons. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/176671/jacob-harrisonESPN just updated their 2016 prospect rankings. Harrison has been upgraded to a 4-star QB, the 5th best dual-threat QB in the nation and a top-300 overall prospect. If everything holds, he will be the highest rated recruit in program history. ZachTheZip Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 :gun: :gun: :gun: Question is...will he stay committed.... So long as he doesn't fall into the common trap of letting himself be pressured into switching to a different team by his friends, coaches, or extended family who just want bigger bragging rights at his expense, I believe he will. It'll be fun to follow him over the next two years. Hopefully he sticks to his guns, and his family supports him. However I will note; maybe he is who cannot be influenced by friends etc. Some people don't like the Big-Big schools. I didn't, which is why I chose Akron. But of course, I'm not a 4-star QB recruit. By his quote, he sounds like a guy we really want to keep here. We could use more fire like that Quote

K92 Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 I would wager that John Heisman being the head coach at Buchtel College in 1893 means sweet f.a. to an incoming recruit. Just a wild guess. Quote
akzipper Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 He could end up being the Blake Bortles for Akron. I doubt he sticks around, but many QB's have proven that the path to the NFL doesn't have to go through a big school. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Don't look now, but ESPN dropped Jacob Harrison off all their rankings, and demoted him to a 3-star recruit. They're probably just mad that they had to mention Akron as the desination of a top recruit. 2 Quote
K92 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 The Greater Catholic League must be tough. Kid threw for almost 2500 and rushed for just shy of 1100 and team went 5-5. Quote

K92 Posted November 29, 2015 Report Posted November 29, 2015 I wondered what ever happened to this kid after he reopened his recruiting. It looks like he switched schools for his senior year and is a Navy commit. Air Force also offered him. Quote
