Z.I.P. Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Fortunately, we do NOT have to play the Cocks for a third time in two years. Akron takes on the Trojans, under second year head coach Andy Enfield -- he of one-hit-wonder Florida Gulf Coast fame. Looks like the winner takes on the winner of Miami (Fl) vs Drexel in second round.http://espnevents.com/charleston-classic/bracket/Meanwhile, over here in the isles, the BobKitties take on George Washington in the first round of this year's Diamond Head Classic. GP1 Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 I will be releasing a GP1 Guide to Charleston for those making the trip. It will include things to do, places to stay, place to eat and such. If you have not made your plans yet and are going, how soon do you need this done?BTW, why isn't Charleston playing in their own tournament? Quote
zippyman23 Posted August 7, 2014 Report Posted August 7, 2014 BTW, why isn't Charleston playing in their own tournament? They can only play in it once in every four years. Quote
ZZZips Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 Zip.In.Paradise - Be safe with two hurricanes heading your way! Quote
Kangaroo Craig Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I second that - Stay safe Z.I.P.As a citizen of Southern California, here's to hoping that the Zips play some more future contests. A home and home would be nice. Quote
Kangaroo Craig Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 Some more future contest against USC. Quote
taxpayer Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 An opportunity to get some "name" wins. Hope the Zips get off to a great start. Quote
Balsy Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I hope they do, cause they certainly won't have any "name" opponents playing the Zips at the JAR. Quote
GoZips Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 I hope they do, cause they certainly won't have any "name" opponents playing the Zips at the JAR.Certainly not this year. Marshall is probably the biggest name home opponent. The OOC schedule is set. Only two road games; Penn State and N. Dakota State. If you want the compete list ... wait. Quote
Balsy Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks Go Zips! I like that we're playing a road game against Penn State. Perhaps we can become a thorn in the nittany lion's side. Beat them in soccer. Beat them in basketball (at their house) and beat them in football (at their house). Make it happen Zips Quote
taxpayer Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 The Zips scheduling of PSU and Marshall are welcome additions to the schedule. Quote
Dave in Green Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 The PSU game is part of the Charleston Classic Tournament that's advertised as a "non-bracketed game" because it's being played at PSU instead of in Charleston. Quote
ZZZips Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 I am going on the team sponsored trip for the three games in Charleston but skipping the PSU game in State College on November 25th. Zip's football at Can't is the same night. If you are traveling to the NDST game on Tuesday, December 16th you may want to get your airline ticket early. The Fargo airport is only served by commuter jets. Current prices by the major carriers are still cheap because less than 20% of the seats have been sold so far. Quote

Fargo is lovely in December and January and March, but the spring floods are always a highlight. Quote
zippy5 Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Fargo is lovely in December and January and March, but the spring floods are always a highlight. What's wrong with February? Quote
Zipmeister Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 What's wrong with February?I admit a lot of people don't notice the difference, and maybe it's just because the month is so darn short, but to me February in Fargo just doesn't measure up to the others. Quote
