Balsy
I was listening to ESPN this morning (about two minutes ago actually) and heard a wonderful little tidbit of journalistic integrity that I never heard before. They introduced one of the "BIG" games of the day: Can't State going to Ohio State."To date Can't State is the Only Mid-American Team to beat the Ohio State Buckeyes, which you have to go all the way back to 1894 to see it. (Nebulous reference to some ESPN host being on the team to make fun of his age) was a redshirt freshman. At the time Can't State was known as BUCHTEL COLLEGE."I know ESPN has constant love for loser BIG schools, but can you actually FACT CHECK stuff before you say it on air?The Only Mid-American Conference Team to beat Ohio State is AKRON. ZippyRulz
Goofballs. They used a similar trivia question during the Akron-PSU game (what was the last "current" B1G school that Akron beat and who was the coach?). The announcers were surmising that 'current' was the key word and it was probably Rutgers or Maryland. When they got the answer they pronounced it as buck-TEL college and made another nebulous reference implying that every school claims to have had John Heisman as their coach back in the day. Not surprising that they then conflated us with k e n t within the week...it's all the same to 99% of espn viewers/listeners.
Zipgrad01
Wow...Can't is AWFUL. They look like us with Ianello.
Balsy
I like how John Heisman developed one of the most used parts of football today while at Akron. You know the thing called a "center snap" is a really important part of football. Developed by Heisman @ Akron. Wonder why those morons don't go talking about that.God, how worthless are national broadcasters. They get paid to do this, and they aren't even right 99% of the time. Zip_ME87
Does anyone know why Ohio State dropped off our future schedules after TB became our head coach. Was it UA's doing, or was blOSU afraid they might lose to a TB-coached team once he had time to build the program?

Was it UA's doing, or was blOSU afraid they might lose to a TB-coached team once he had time to build the program?I think it was because when the CFB Playoff was announced State Ohio University announced that it "would be scheduling less MAC teams". So I don't think any of the future scheduled games with Akron were official, maybe just tentative? But if I were State Ohio University, I'd be afraid of TB. LZIp
I know ESPN has constant love for loser BIG schools,Huh? ESPN doesn't miss a chance to rag on the B1G and OSU as much as they can. You must have missed the 20 minutes or so of it today on College Gameday. Was it UA's doing, or was blOSU afraid they might lose to a TB-coached team once he had time to build the program?I always assumed the Akron-OSU series was dropped when UA hired Tressel and that the school in Columbus would not want the media frenzy a matchup between the two would cause. Maybe that had nothing to do with it at all but the two did seem to coincide.

Zip_ME87
what year(s) were dropped? I think we had them on the 2015 tentative future schedule, but I've forgotten for sure. When did we last play them? I think we were on a 5-year cycle.@GJGood, you may be right. I never made the connection with Tressel, but it could have been. Should confirm/shut down any thoughts of them being 'afraid' of us.They certainly wouldn't have been afraid of us under RI, but they've had enough close calls with MAC teams, that they could have been worried about paying us big money to upset them on their own field under TB. Thats why he doesnt ever wanna play osu. Hed rather play other BIG schools bc we can get the same payday and typically dont have to worry about the transfers
Buckzip
You are joking, right? If the recruiting coordinator told you that, he needs a new job. Transfers play their old school all the time.
Zip_ME87
I should have questioned that. I don't see anything in the NCAA transfer guidance about that and yes I've seen transfers play their old school now that I think about it.
