I was at the game. They are renovating their soccer field so the field this game was played on used to be the intramural field. The lighting wasn't great.

Couple funny things during the game:

Girl sitting in front of me Fromm UAB basketball team said after UAB tied it at 1: "no way we win this one, Akron has been on offense for 90% of the game."

Also, I overheard a girl talking about Fenlason saying: "Did you see LeBron gave him a shoutout on Twitter?"

Lighting was extremely poor. Referee called very few fouls and the ones that he did....seemed to be due to crowd reaction. Victor's yellow card was not deserved. Different lineup....with Tyler Sanda playing the entire 2nd half and OT. Sam did not play until 2nd half. Robby Dambrot played the entire game. Jake had a very good game as he was very aggressive on the corner kicks.

Lighting was beyond atrocious. Had a tough time picking out our players (silhouettes) on far side. Don't know how they had enough light to stream. Worst referees I've seen in a long time. Mostly didn't call anything when they did it was stupid. Gave Robby Dambrot a hard time over his shin guards. Almost cost us a goal when they didn't allow Richie back on the field timely and we were playing down a man. Miserable weather. Really happy to get out of there with this one. Tough schedule for next 2. Travel today. Play Santa Clara Tuesday at home. Travel Thursday to Buffalo play Friday. Glad we have 8 days between Buffalo and NIU.

Great meeting you TennZip. Hope you have a good journey home.

ME87....great meeting you as well. Hope you had safe travel back to ATL last night and home today. I just got back to NW Tenn. I am watching a future zips opponent on BTEN network (spartans trailing the buckeyes 2-0 with 15 minutes to go). Zips really played hard last night. Very glad to be there to see them earn a hard fought "W".

Given what I have read about the field and conditions, this is a good win regardless of how it was obtained. Way to grind it out! On to Santa Clara!

It's also exciting to hear about all you fans/alums traveling to away matches. I attended the VCU match and was at UNC in '10. Hopefully both turn out to be the first games of National Championship seasons!

Thanks for sharing ZipsBurgh. The one that happened to me that ZipsNation will apprectiate was...

A UAB fan sitting to my right suddenly said something like, does it piss you guys off when fans show up to your games wearing Ohio State stuff? I said absolutely it does, why? And he proceeded to point out the apparent UAB fan who had just entered the stands and walked by wearing Alabama Crimson Tide crap. :mad_flame: He continued to commiserate with me about how that happens at numerous events.

Tyler Sanda is developing into a serviceable "target" classic Centre Forward. He is thick and strong. He receives the ball in traffic, with back to goal, and holds it, waits for support.

Good to see Sanda playing extended minutes. No one else on Zips roster does the things mentioned above. This gives Embick yet another option.
