2016 Zips in Pro Leagues Domestic & International

Recommended Posts

Slightly OT, but when I was tweeting @Yedlinny today after SAFC's draw with Crystal Palace, which saw them clear of the relegation zone for maybe the first time all season, I couldn't help noticing in DA's photos a shot of him and "Uncle" flashing some true #UglySweaters at the Wearside pad over the Christmas season.  Check it out next time you visit the Tweeting post.  Tweeting post!  lol -- it was the Canaries of Norwich who Sunderland pushed into the drop zone today!  Wish I could remember Uncle's handle at Zipsnation.  Anyone?

Hearts: Perry Kitchen preferred Tynecastle to 'big MLS offer'

...The 24-year-old has returned to the USA to finalise paperwork after securing a work permit that should allow him to complete his move next week.

"I was pleased to get him and quite surprised," said Neilson.

"He had a big offer in the MLS, but he wanted to come to Europe to get into the USA team more consistently."...

So, Jurgen Klinsmann has his fingerprints all over Perry Kitchen's move to Europe.

Former Akron women's soccer standout, Lani Smith, signed a professional contract with Vasteras BK30, a professional team in the Swedish first division, located in Vasteras, Sweden.

best article that I have seen about Perry and his new team.   I will always remember the poise, the composure, the instincts and the toughness that this young man showed for the Zips in 2010.   Perry will always remembered as a gigantic reason why the zips got their first star.

Especially when he drilled about a 35 yard goal against Michigan in the semis to tie that game up before the half.

F**KING A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#BiggestZipsGoalEver!

Please pardon my profanity.  I re-watched this match again last week.

Zips began this semi-final match in lackluster fashion, emotionally distant from the action.  Justin Meram's goal was first class, but Zips' defending was really loose, giving him way too much space.

Within minutes of Perry Kitchen's titanic blast, Kofi Sarkodie (ever forward) viciously slide-tackled a Wolverine player outside the touchline in the Michigan third.  Sarkodie received a YC for the offense; maybe should have been ejected.

From that moment, even though we were down a goal, I thought Zips were going to prevail and progress to the title match.  Zips remained emotionally and mentally focused throughout the rest of the tournament.

Rumors popping up today of Mattocks to Portland.  I guess some Jamaican radio station is reporting it.  I'm waiting on one of the big American outlets to confirm it, but my fingers are crossed!

God help the MLS if this deal is consummated.
