Here it is. Great article.

I like the photo that was in the article.

Very cool. Checked out his highlights. Looks like a real gamer.

Kobie's built like a tank.  I went to a Barberton game earlier in the year & could pick Kobie out of the crowd of players from 100 yards away.  And he can run quite well.  Looks like a great future LB to me.

Here's the list of class of 2017 players who have committed to play for the Zips so far:

Out of state:

Jeremiah Ramirez, G, Hillsboro HS, Hillsboro, OR

Kennedy Pickens, RB, Hillsboro HS, Hillsboro, OR

I can't find much of anything confirming the two Oregon commitments beyond their initial tweets, but Oregon isn't much of a HS football hotbed, with very few recruits and very little media coverage.

Akron has two commits from Hillsboro High School?!?  I wonder if this is an extension of the "Caleb Porter Effect"?  Hillsboro, in the West Hills suburbs of Portland is a bedroom community, sitting next to Beaverton, home of Nike.  The HS has about 1000 students IIRC.  As you say, they are not a "hotbed" of football, but a few DI players come out of the PDX suburbs each year.

Found some info on Pickens and Ramirez.  Pickens may the "Second coming of Fransohn Bickley", as he is reportedly only 140 pounds on a 5-7 or 5-8 core, depending on which site you believe.  He lines up at either RB or WR alternatively.  The team has a losing record.  Here's some video:  https://new.berecruited.com/athletes/2778870  Note that in some refs to Pickens he is #3, but appears to be wearing #40 in all the videos I've seen.  In one site he writes that he's spent most of his life in Mobile, Alabama.

Jeremiah Ramirez:  In the videos I see, he's always playing on the Defense side, either in the middle or outside.  No info on his height/weight.  Recently moved from SF Bay area and lives in Beaverton.  Works at Nike!  Are we a Nike team?  http://www.hudl.com/video/3/4445040/5721ba08c124573b5459473d

Really glad to see the UA extending it's recruiting boundaries.  Those dadgum coaches are welcome to come scout the Aloha State.  Plenty of athletes here, and not many want to stay home.

Their commitments were self-reported on Twitter, but there hasn't been a peep since then. I'd put them as questionable until something more substantial comes along.

Akron, Akron, Akron, Akron, Akron, Akron, Barberton, Coventry, Canton.

Man, I like that.

Obviously a good sign and much, much, much better than it used to be. I just hope they aren't recruiting only the Akron-Canton area and not much else in Ohio outside of transfers. To be successful you need to get the guys in your own back yard but also be able to get guys that are a little less local but still regional as well. I just hope the NEO focus doesn't create a tunnel vision effect with respect to the rest of the state. Still it is obviously a good sign when the local talent regularly sees you as an option worth considering.

So it appears Malik Woodridge is the only local recruit who didn't receive any post season accolades?

Good call.

I was disappointed Tracy Jordan didn't receive anything more than Honorable Mention in D-III.  This guy really passes the eyeball test & looks like a true man among boys out there.  Idk, but it has to make me question his motor.
