That is awesome! Has an offer to Baylor per that article. I'm sure he's picked up others as well since August.

He's not undersized either, at 6-1, 210. If we sign Bubba we'd have both the D-1 (Reggie Corner Jr.) & D-II (Bubba) Northeast Inland District DPOY's.

The situation at Baylor has not gotten the media attention it deserves. I heard Jim Grobe give an interview at Big XII media day and I remember thinking that they might as well just eliminate the football program because they are beyond a dumpster fire. LZIp
So I came across something pretty interesting that I think is worth sharing. There are generally two sides on this site when it comes to discussing recruiting. The side that thinks stars mean everything and the type that think stars don't tell the whole story/could possibly be inflated or deflated depending on who they have offers from. I like to think I'm somewhere in the middle. Stars do obviously have meaning, but there are certainly many players that get overlooked for one reason or another. With PJ Fleck hopefully gone at WMU after this season, I was curious as to what mutual players both Akron and WMU have offered in the case that some may decommit after Fleck leaves. So I pulled up WMU's commit list per 247. http://westernmichigan.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Commits Now Fleck is obviously heralded as some great recruiter. He's obviously a talented coach as well. I didn't look through them all, but take a look at those top 5 rated commits. All 3 stars I might add. There is a QB (who Akron has also offered) who looks a lot like you'd expect WMU to be pulling in. A handful of offers with a few decent P5s sprinkled in. However when you look at the other 4, you will see that 2 of them ONLY have an offer from WMU and 2 of them have an offer from WMU and one other G5 program. Does that not seem a little odd?? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say Akron's recruiting is on par with WMU's, but it doesn't appear as far off as I think most of us assume. Also, FWIW, Zach Terrell was a 2 star prospect with offers to WMU, Illinois State, and Kent St per Rivals. Corey Davis was a 2 star prospect whose only offer was to WMU. One criticism I've had of Bowden's recruiting is that we hadn't landed a premier running back... this year we have not one, but two 1st Team All-Ohio RB's coming in: Jemarulin Suggs (D-III) & Marquise Bridges (D-II). There are two more un-offered, but intriguing offensive prospects on the All-Ohio D-II & D-III list... both WR's: Austin Jasinski, Massillon, 6-1, 163 (D-II) (might be a little slight, but I read an article about him & he seems to be an athlete who just simply has a knack for making plays on offense, defense & special teams... just a coordinated, great athlete) & Tyler Adams, Louisville, 6-0, 175 (D-III) (I've mentioned Adams before. He's not flashy, but a really sound, consistent football player who's been putting up impressive stats for three years now. Possession receiver kinda guy.) kreed5120
Does anyone have numbers on how many typical Summit County players get recruited to FBS schools in typical years? I stumbled upon the below numbers for Stark County and it made me wonder how Summit County compared. 2012 - 10 2013 - 8 2014 - 7 2015 - 5 2016 - 1 http://www.fridaynightohio.com/news/2015-was-down-year-stark-county’s-football-recruiting-trend-or-aberration Edited November 30, 2016 by kreed5120
Blue & Gold
I don't know what the exact numbers are and I have no link to reference, but I do know just from following recruiting for the past 20 years that Summit always cranks out considerably more D-I talent than Stark. I feel like we should've offered to Louisville OL, but we did bring many of them in last class. I plan on taking a look how many Stark/Summit kids we get this year compared to the rest of the MAC. I feel like we are faring well so far based on the number of commits, but its hard to tell. Hustlebelt's working list is not very accurate. This year ended in a bitterly disappointing fashion, but this year's recruiting class is shaping up to look how I've been dreaming for 20 years Zips' recruiting classes would look. It's great! And it can get better. Lots of talent within a stone's throw of UA. Gotta keep them home! Edited November 30, 2016 by Blue & Gold
kreed5120
Obviously our goal should be to start growing our footprint. If we can get to the point where we are getting our pick of the 2* & 3* players from Cleveland to Stark County and from Stark County to Youngstown, meanwhile, be able to add a couple Florida boys per year we will be sitting pretty in the MAC.

Malcolm Robinson, DL, Massillon 2. Thayer Munford, OL, Massillon 3. Griffin Baumoel, LB, CCC 4. Matt Carrick, OL, Perry 5. Reggi Corner Jr., S, McKinley Wouldn't be surprised if there were another one or two offered before February. I'm happy about Reggie Corner Sr. being a coach at McKinley.
