1.  Woodson has an average of 17 completions per game this season, with 21 coming last week.  My vote is based upon averages, not a lack of confidence in him being able to make plays.  I'm going to go with 20 completions (just shy of the 21 or more)

2.  Maybe I'm drinking too much kool aid.

3.  In almost all the games we've had this year, our opponent has been able to move the ball on the ground effectively.  However, I think the Zips D will step up enough to prevent scores/big plays.

1) Appalachian State's ground and pound offense will minimize plays and possessions for both teams. I say he finishes with ~18

2) I feel the loss of Cox swings this game in the Zips favor. Had he'd played I'd of taken App State. Cox is averaging 5.7 ypc, meanwhile, his replacement is averaging 3.4. The 3rd string back that will be seeing an uptick in carries 2.6 ypc

3) I expect App State to run the ball 40 times or more as that kind of is their style of offense. Given that kind of workload the Zips will definitely concede 140 yards on the ground.

1) Appalachian state's secondary seems to be good quality.  Getting more than 20 completions seems like it would be quite difficult for Woodson

2) Without the defensive and special team scoring, Marshall is a different game.  I'm not sold yet on the Zips offense moving 'at will' against quality opponents.  I don't have a good feeling about this game.

3) App State seems to be a rush-first team, especially if they start to get ahead, and could get 200 yards. However, I have confidence in our rushing D, and believe that they will hold them under 180.

1 - App will defend the run well and hope to make Akron throw the ball and become one dimensional

2 - I am going with App for a couple of reasons. First, I think that we match up well with Akron. I was definitely taken aback by your lopsided victory over Marshall but know how the game can swing based on certain plays. Secondly, although Marcus Cox is out , his back up is more than capable. He has had very few carries thus far this season. However, last season (almost same exact scenario), when Marcus sat out against Idaho (I know Akron is much better opponent) , Jaylin Moore ran for 244 yards in Marcus absence.

3 - App is definitely a run first team. Even when teams load the box, we are not quick to give up on our outside and inside zone read plays. I think that we will get our 180 yards and more on the ground but may not have more than 325 total yards.

Should be an excellent game !

1. Zips have multiple weapons in the passing game. Passing attack will be the strength of this team all year long.

2. The Zips made a believer out of me last week. If only we had last year's D to go along with this years O. However, I believe that the D will improve as the season goes on.

3. D - Last year's strength, this year's weakness. Plus, the Mountaineers have a good ground attack. Watch out for the misdirection plays. They ran those well against Tennessee.

The Zips strength is their passing game. They will probably come out throwing. If I were App, I would defend the pass well, and make the Zips run.

I am not sure App Stat can stop our passing game but if they can disrupt it enough to get a few  3 and outs, then it's a game. It probably seems like unfounded optimism, but I honestly believe our offense can beat every D we face through the rest of the year. I am not saying we will, but I believe we can, if we don't beat ourselves.
