TennZip Posted January 30, 2017 Report Posted January 30, 2017 the zips will be in Pittsburgh on Feb. 25 hopefully, several fans from the Akron/Cleveland area will make the trip to Pittsburgh to cheer on the zips...and my favorite all time Zip holding midfielder....(Victor Souto- now playing for the Riverhounds) 2 Quote
TennZip Posted February 11, 2017 Author Report Posted February 11, 2017 I know that Akron has not yet released their spring schedule....... However, it is worth reminding everyone that the zips will be playing the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Saturday Feb. 25 at 1 pm at Highmark Stadium That is 2 short weeks from tomorrow. I am sure that Nick Hinds, Ben Lundt, Niko deVera, Nate Shultz, Sam Gainford, Stuart Holthusen, Manel Cordeiro, Pau Belana, and many other zips will be working hard and want to see a lot of zip fans make the short trip to Pittsburgh. Dec. 2016 Univ. of Akron Summa Cum Laude Graduate Victor Souto is working hard and learning for the Riverhounds as he competes for a starting position with the riverhounds. Saturday, February 25 UNIVERSITY OF AKRON Highmark Stadium | Pittsburgh, PA 1 p.m. FREE ADMISSION Quote

ND is very direct, to great efficacy. Akron held the ball. ND always pushes forward, with long diagonal passes. Same as last year. Think West Bromwich vs, Arsenal. Holthusen, Zajac, and De Vera were keys. 1 Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) Pau and Ezana scored. 2-1 Zips over ND final. As I recall (correct me if necessary): Starters (4-4-2 or 4-3-3; Skye may have been up front) Nick Costa Nate Shultz, Shane Wiedt, Reggie Laryea, Nico DeVera, Jackson Crawford, Marcel Zajac, Pau Belana, Skye Harter, Sam Gainford, Stuart Holthusen Reggie went down and Morgan Hackworth replaced him during 1st half 0-0 at half Pau scored shortly into the 2nd half Ezana Kahsay came in for Jackson Crawford several minutes into the 2nd half ND tied it EZ scored 2-1 Zips final There was no clock since we were on the practice field and I didn't look at my watch to estimate when the scores occurred. You have the personnel right, but the formation was 4-2-3-1. This is evidenced by the shape taken after we lost the ball, when we dropped back. This is not to say that we will keep this formation, though I prefer it. Embick likes being able to use multiple formations, as would a professional side. Kahsay subbed for Crawford, taking LM and moving Gainford to CM. I sure hope Reggie Laryea will recover by April 9th. He was doing well before he walked off gingerly. Joe Korb saw first action at RB, late in the contest. Holhusen Gainford Crawford Zajac (Kahsay) Harter Belana De Vera Weidt Laryea Shultz (Hackworth) Costa Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 Thanks, and I forgot the Joe Korb sub...no slight to Joe intended. Quote

fknbuflobo Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 Great to see Joe Korb in action. He did not do much besides work up a sweat. Good for him! Kid has had a rough go. 1 Quote
