Does the NCAA copy it from here, make a few minor changes and then publish it as their own every week?

That is actually what the NCAA does.  That is why RPI trumps all polls.  RPI is how the tourney will be seeded by NCAA.  Come October, I ignore all the polls.

the college soccer coaches......remain the toughest critics for the zips

zips were 42 last week

zips are #26 this week

akron beat Michigan State 4-1 ; tOSU lost to Michigan State 5-1

coaches have Ohio State at 27....

Michigan State barely dropped in the rankings

Western Michigan only dropped from 9 to 12 after losing 4-1 to Portland.

Syracuse is still receiving votes in this poll.....Wins over Syracuse and Western Michigan...both on the road....would clearly help the zips in both the coaches poll and in the most important....RPI

Ignore all the polls for the entire year.  They mean less than nothing as all they do is mislead people into thinking they have some significance when they don't.

Instead, I suggest bookmarking your team's RPI worksheet which, if you understand it properly, will reveal your at-large and seeding prospects as November approaches.

This is what you need:

You might also find this RPI bonus/penalty list useful (not entirely accurate but very close to accurate):

zips drop from 17 to 21 in college soccer news

western Michigan stays at 13

https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men

zips are at 12 in top drawer soccer

In the only poll that matters...the zips dropped to 25 yesterday in RPI

Washington lost yesterday to UCLA,(who had a 4-5 record)

and Utah Valley is killing the zips...UVU is now 2-8-1 when they don't play the zips...as they lost 3-0 yesterday to Texas Rio Grande Valley and they lost earlier in the week to Incarnate Word

zips are #27 in the coaches poll....

I think that SIU-E plays #20 Butler tonight.   an SIU-E win tonight and a zips win over SIU-E on Friday night ...would really help the zips in the RPI

and of course, a 4-0 homestand...would be the best dose of medicine for the Zips RPI

West Virginia beat Michigan State last night 1-0. ND, BGSU, Pitt and WVU all in 11 days is going to be challenging!

Add in SIU-E....and that is 5 games in 15 days...that are going to be challenging...

SIU-E spanked a top 20 team in Butler...

BGSU has had some down results recently but Copley's Chris Brennan will want he and his teammates to do well at Cub Cadet Field

Glad to see the Zips finally in the top 25 for the coaches poll. I looked earlier and saw they were still #27 (receiving votes). That must have been last week's poll (I didn't check the date).

UMass has a 3-1 win over St. Louis (and St. Louis has a win over Stanford and a tie with Akron)

I love the zips...and UND and Michigan State are impressive huge wins...but akron has to prove that they can beat a top 20 RPI team on the road  (Pitt will provide the perfect forum)

Akron is being killed in the rpi by a horrible loss to an awful Utah Valley team (UVU is 3-8-2 when they don't play the zips)

losing to a crappy team that is 161 in the RPI.....is the main thing preventing from being above New Hampshire in the rankings

Denver is also very mediocre....6-6 when not playing the zips

St. Louis is 4-7 when not playing the zips

the zips have to play well on the road next week at Pitt and WVU

Zips have proven that they are a final four team at home.....

rooting for them to show their chops and toughness on the road

Zips now #14 in RPI.  As noted by TennZip, the Pitt & WVU games are crucial. If the Zips can get at least one win out of those two, and beat the teams they should beat, they will be in good shape to get a seed for the NCAAs ...

  • 2 weeks later...

good find, zippyfan

i was just getting ready to post the release from the ncaa

the good news is that those ratings are as of october 22

Georgetown is #9 in those ratings

Georgetown tied Providence on Wednesday and Lost to St. Johns yesterday

Notre Dame is #7 ...they lost to an excellent N. Carolina team 3-0 on Friday night

Notre Dame hosts Pittsburgh in the ACC round of 16 this wednesday night...Pitt has already beaten UND once this year

In important big ten games, Michigan State and Indiana played to 1-1 tie to finish tied for 2nd in league with 5-0-3 records.  Michigan won the league with a 6-1-1 record with a 2-1 double overtime win at Maryland.  maryland finished 4th with 5-1-2 record.

Michigan is up to #12 in RPI  (W. Michigan beat the wolverines earlier this year)

what is really strange about the NCAA's top 10...is the absence of Louisville

Louisville is currently #4 in Gaucho Dan's RPI

they did beat Clemson at Clemson this past Friday night...so they would probably be in the top 10 as of 10/29/17

Wake Forest (15-1-0)
Indiana (13-0-3)
North Carolina (13-2-1)
Clemson (11-3-0)
Michigan State (11-2-2)
Duke (10-3-2)
Notre Dame (9-4-2)
Western Michigan (13-2-1)
Georgetown (11-2-1)
Akron (10-3-1)

I know it's meaningless, but the Zips are now #5 on the topdrawersoccer ranking:

Louisville is #13. I don't know why they're getting so little respect ...

in college soccer news poll...Louisville is 6 and Akron is 11

Louisville has wins over Duke (#8 in top drawer soccer) and Butler (#10 in top drawer) and has a tie against N. Carolina (#3 in top drawer soccer)

their 2 losses are to #1 wake and NC State (I don't know much about NC State...but I suspect that they are better than Utah Valley)

I know that Travis Clark...at top drawer....thinks the world of Jared Embick....

possibly the TDS writers just don't like Ken Lolla at Louisville????

RPI......takes the personal feelings out of everything....

at the end of the day...Louisville is #4 in RPI...and that will count much more than the top drawer soccer rankings

The line of demarcation is top 8.  That is what matters.  The difference between #16 and #9 is insignificant.  Teams getting the first round bye is very significant.  More often than not, the champion will come from these top 8 teams getting the first round bye.

Check it, but I believe the top 16 get a first round bye and the other 32 play on a week night. Seeds are 1-16.
