Zipgrad01
5 minutes ago, K92 said: Recruiting has been a eff'n train wreck ever since Bowden got here. Ray Charles can see it and he is blind and dead. You cannot win with players that no other program in the country was interested in and that is what we have here. The conventional wisdom on this board was that the ratings services are worthless and that the staff knew what they were doing getting diamonds in the rough. How's that working out?? This roster is talent deficient. Who are the playmakers? You have one running back, one linebacker and a safety on this team that would start for any other MAC squad. Truth hurts. The complete whiff that was the recruiting class of 2015 is coming home to roost in a big way. Those kids should be juniors who contribute in a big way and they just aren't there. Ulysees Gilbert can't carry an entire recruiting class. I was a big Bowden supporter when he arrived and hoped he would turn the program around. That ship has sailed and he is getting fired after this season and leaving the cupboard absolutely bare for the next staff. I could be wrong, of course and if I am, I will come on this board and eat a huge helping of crow. Prove me wrong Terry. You aren't wrong. You and I have been harping on this for several years now, but most people had their head buried in the sand. Now all of the sudden people realize the guy is worth about as much as an ashtray on a motorcycle. The guy can't recruit and he can't coach. That is a deadly combo. I do not think the cupboard will be bare, at least for next year, assuming 2 things - Woody's replacement is competent, which I think is likely and WRs WRs WRs WRs. Which I think there is potential with Stewart, Williams, and McGriff. We have more young players playing than ever, seem to be putting together our best recruiting class yet (who knows how it will end up), and we really don't lose much of value from this year's class outside of a few key players, but I think they have capable backups or backups with potential. Younger players have to play when the entire junior class is missing.

No offense to anyone, but I am curious as to why this game is tipping sentiment against Bowden. The other reason we're "waking up" now is, we bought into the conventional wisdom on the board that 1 - you can't tell anything about this team by what you saw at Penn State, and 2 - you can't tell anything about this team by what you saw against APD. So here we are, and we got to see what it is we got - Bupkis. I wish we had Butkis (Mike that is) but we have Bupkis
Fre5hington24
Well if lane kiffin took a fcs job at Florida Atlantic to try rebuild his reputation as a great offensive mind, since the fire Bowden train might gain some traction who might be on that level to come coach akron next season chip Kelly anyone ? zipsoutsider
At the beginning of the season I thought we would be 2-2. We still might be. It's a little early for meltdowns. Katoxs dad has been running his mouth on FB and Twitter for a year now. His son is not ready to lead anything and I would like to see him shut his trap. Now we know why Kato is emotionally immature. Kato's dad has a big mouth, but his son has more talent in his left nut than Woodson has in his entire washed up body. Woodson is done. Make the switch already. I have seen some talent but his judgement is poor on the field. Its hard to train a fool. Alex Ramart is the next Zips starting QB. Our problem is not a qb problem. I am honestly amazed at the unrealistic expectations of Zips fans. Edited September 17, 2017 by zipsoutsider

I want the team to perform as well as an upper level FCS team. Is that too much to ask? If we played a good I-AA we would get smoked. That is unacceptable to me in year 6. Bowden has complete ownership of this dumpster fire.

You say the expectations are too high. Get real. You picked the Zips to win on the poll earlier. Either you meant that or you are just a blind homer. If you meant it, how can you not be disappointed in the result?

He will have his choice of many jobs next year that are all better than Akron.
Buckzip
I don't feel that Woodson is our biggest issue. He is fine with some talent with him. His OL sucks, his receivers are below average and there is no running game. He is not the problem. The coaching staff and talent around him is the problem. I am not blaming Woodson as the main culprit of our teams bad performance. I blame the guy that is playing him. I completely agree with your post. I think I put in our prediction thread that our wr's aren't very good and the OL can't run block. Pretty damn accurate
Zipgrad01
The only thing that will make the day complete is for the captain to wipe the goo off his face and hop in here to tell us how Bowden has the program exactly where it should be right now. We get it. Ianello sucked almost a decade ago.
