Good luck to those 5 seniors. I would be remiss if I did also not send best wishes to Stuart Holthusen. Those 6 seniors will be very hard to replace on the field. Very anxious to see what next year's recruiting class looks like.
TennZip
Stuart mentioned in this article about snubs https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/six-mls-combine-snubs_aid43603 F Stuart Holthusen, Akron Perhaps Holthusen’s exclusion is down to Zips fatigue – there are already five players invited to the combine from the College Cup side – though Holthusen, a New Zealand youth international who finished the season on fire, should get a chance to play in front of MLS coaches. While he lacks the physical traits that lays the base for what MLS teams value, Holthusen is a savvy player and good finisher that can find space on the field in front of goal.

fknbuflobo
Zips Nation are very proud of Nate Shultz. He has come a long way as player, now potentially a professional prospect. All around good guy from a solid family! We hope he gets to take his dream to the next level.

Zip_ME87
Apparently (according to Soccer by Ives), Joao is among those who have agreed to sign a Generation Adidas deal. In 2017, the first signings were confirmed on January 4th with Jonathan Lewis being added on January 6th. With the 2018 MLS Combine set to begin on January 11th, we should have final confirmation soon. http://sbisoccer.com/2018/01/report-atuahene-moutinho-among-six-set-to-sign-generation-adidas-mls-deals

Zip_ME87
I don't think any of us are happy to lose Joao, but I'm sure those GA deals are too good to turn down. For those who wonder why it's so difficult to win the College Cup, look no further than MLS/Generation Adidas. Two rising stars, Jonathan Lewis and now apparently Joao Moutinho, gone after only 1 season, and one potential star, Wan Kuzain bin Wan Kamal, whom we never got to see with the Zips thanks to SKC/Swope Park. EDIT: I'll be damn proud to support Joao in the professional ranks along with all of our other professional Zips soccer players! Although I hate it, I too am still proud of the Zippies that have taken advantage of this in the past and now and will also support the heck out of them. Can't blame them at all. I had told a friend (yes fknbuflobo I DO have some!) that why Akron was so good this season was they didn't lose a lot to the MLS or pros like in the past. I mean we lost Jonathan like ME said, but we didn't lose 5 or 6 in the same season GA or Hometown. ME's right, this is why it's tough to stay in the elite top 10 season after season, re-loading is tough to do when you don't see it coming. At the beginning of this past season, I thought that the zips would lose in the NCAA round of 32 because I did not know what to expect from the 2 center backs. I had no idea that Joao would be the best player on the team that Daniel Strachan would also be outstanding. The 2 great freshman center DB's propelled this team to the final four. Thank you for everything , Joao and do super in MLS.
