But if Western wins Sunday, they are in as auto qualifier . West Virginia at 18 . What would we be rpI WISE. No way 3 get in from the MAC

We can agree to disagree.   I hope that the zips win and that this is a moot point.  If WMU wins, the MAC will get 3 teams in.   When the RPI ranks the conferences this year, the MAC ranks very highly.   Akron has quality wins over Michigan State and Creighton.  Both West Virginia and Akron have a win over Pitt.  Pitt knocked off Virginia in the round of 16 in the ACC and Virginia was 5 in the rpi at the that time.  Pitt lost on PK's in the next round of ACC tourney to Duke...who was 10 in RPI.

As well as they played today, I am very confident on how the zips will do on Sunday.  it also helps that Western Michigan was not a top 2 seed and has also played two games this week.

By the end of Friday Night's games...Akron moved even further higher in gaucho dan rpi

zips were 21 immediately after win

now show as 18

WVU dropped from 18 to 19

the late result that really helped the zips was grand canyon defeating a top 20 team (Air force had been 15-3-0)

if Grand Canyon can win their conference tourney, that will really help the zips in the rpi

Grand Canyon was another quality win for the zips on the road

Washington also knocked off Oregon State late in the day....and that pushed Washington even higher in rpi

Thanks @TennZip for all of the posts. Driving down to Morgantown and back didn't allow me time to post on ZipsNation. Many thanks to your posts buflobo, who rode down with me, was able to read them and play the interviews on our drive back. Nice way to pass the time being able to hear the interviews and other information resulting from this match/win. First 11 seconds were distressing, but what a great response by our team! Love this team! Go Zips!!!

In the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament on Saturday night, Akron relied on the finesse of freshman Carlo Ritaccio to help the Zips prevail over No. 12 West Virginia 3-1. Though the Mountaineers took the early lead after just 11 seconds of play, Ritaccio evened the score with his first collegiate goal just over 90 seconds later. Fellow freshman Marco Milanese gave the Zips the advantage off a header just before the half, and the Ritaccio hit the game winner in the 66th minute. The Zips, who dominated the Mountaineers offensively with 20 shots to West Virginia’ six shots, will hope to carry this momentum forward as they take on Western Michigan at 1 p.m. on November 11 in the conference title match.

Erroneous on the 2nd goal...scored b Ezana Kahsay, as we know, not Marco Milanese. Also Ritaccio's 2nd goal was an insurance goal, not the game winner. Kahsay's was the game winner.

A loss to WMU would drop the Zips' RPI down to around 24 or 25, by my calculation. That should still be good enough for an at-large bid.

But much better if they take care of business and win the MAC!

I'm surprised how high the Zips are in RPI. Maybe I'm just used to better seasons but I didn't think that we had a chance at an at-large. Glad we have a chance if we lose tomorrow but obviously want that MAC Title!
