Sergeant Zip Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Jason Taylor is closing in on 100 sacks. Per the article, Taylor will become the 23rd player to reach the 100 milestone. How about that for the Akron Zip! Quote
blueandgold Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 How many sacks does he have so far for his career? If he stays healthy he will be well over 120 sacks during his career. He just provides such a matchup problem with his speed. Quote
GP1 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 I wonder if 100 sacks gets you into the Hall of Fame similar to 3,000 hits in baseball. Quote
Buckzip Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 He's a stud. I can still remember when he signed with Akron. He had some issues getting in because he was home schooled. At least I think that was him. Quote
Kangaroo Craig Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 He's a stud. I can still remember when he signed with Akron. He had some issues getting in because he was home schooled. At least I think that was him. You are correct. This is the same dude. He was a steal for Faust and Co. because all of the BCS schools felt that he was an academic risk because of the home schgooling thing. Not only is he a hall of famer, he may very well be a first ballot selection. The key for him is to stay healthy and put together a few more seasons like the ones in the past. I have no reason to believe he won't. Quote
RowdyZip Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 man...my autographed bobble head is skyrocketing in value. saw JT at BW3s following the spring game this year. Quote
Dr Z Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 This is the same dude. He was a steal for Faust and Co. because all of the BCS schools felt that he was an academic risk because of the home schooling thing.True story: Jason shows up at a Zips home game and sits down in the section next to us with his to be wife at the time.My brother is a HUGE Dolphins fan and wasn't at the game. The only thing I had with me was a popcorn box.I tear the popcorn box open and use one of the flaps to get an autograph. I sit down next to him and shake his hand (one of the biggest hands I have ever shook) and tell him what a big fan I was and how my brother was a Zips and Dolphins fan. I further explain that he is going to be ticked that the one game he misses JT shows up. I asked Jason to sign, "Dear (my brothers name), you should have been here, Jason Taylor"I go back to my seat and look at the popcorn box, it reads "should been there, JT" Super nice guy to a pain in the butt fan though.I would hope that when he retires he is given the ROYAL treatment at Akron.Second long winded JT story. I'll always remember the 97 draft when the Dolphins took JT in the third.I was convinced the Steelers were going to take him being from the area and I thought he fit there 3-4 scheme well. The Steelers had two low third round picks and I was sure they would take him with the 82nd or 91st pick.Maybe the Dolphins thought the same thing and grabbed him with the 73rd.I met Cowher four months after that draft when he was signing autographs for fans and asked him if he thought of taking JT.He stopped signing, looked up at me, gave a pause, and said "yeah...we thought about it", looked down and continued to sign. Maybe you had to be there, but it was funny.Check out some of the names drafted before JT that year Quote
Sergeant Zip Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 Per FoxSports.com Taylor had a heck of a game. He had a 3 tackles, 1 interception that he returned for a touchdown, 1 forced fumble, and got that 100th career sack. Quote
