gozips19 Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 great stuff capt!!!! thought i'd add a little to the thread per rivals web site.Mark Wooldridge RB recent update on him shows he's not looking at akron. not listed in top 5 ill. and wvu have requested transcripts and if his grades pan out will get an offerCornelius Ward Db rivals is showing he has an offer but is showing miami oh as high lets hope Hill can sway him he's a top player in the state of MDB.J. Cunningham Wr. has Akron in top 5 but lists Miami and UC as high. with Harvey and Hill in the mix it will be a hard sell but he's a play makerCarson Byrd DL from trot wood. looks to be a tweaner but rates high and likes the zipsJack DiNardo DL from Ill. has offers from K State and NWU (visit) but does have akron in his top 5. would be a big get for zipsErique Robertson LB from maple hights very fast! waiting on offers from Iowa and Ill. (visit). if they don't offer akron will be ready to take in a great playerKahlil Permenter Db a top db from MD has offers from BC UB and UA said to be taking a year off due to injury even though BC is said to be keeping offer on the table. could scare off the big boys and akron could get him next year?hope this wasn't considered over kill just wanted to add a little. looks to be another great class although this will really heat up towards to end of the year and a lot can change with some "fringe" prospects Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 FYI - While the player names, height and weight info is gleaned from Scout.com, all status info is a result of my own research around campus. It is as up-to-date and accurate as possible. Hopefully I can keep updating the status every couple weeks, plus add some other interesting stuff. Quote
Hilltopper Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 Ryan Brinson has not taken the SAT/ACT yet. I would compare him to another former Zips Canton McKinley recruit, Antowan Hight. He has alot of talent but will likely not qualify academically. Quote
Buckzip Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Kyle Jefferson Will likley be a Buckeye. (Glenville HS) Cleveland, OH 6-5/170Only if he walks on. Quote
rocketfootball Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Kyle Jefferson committed to Pittsburgh.Lots of players on that list that both Toledo and Akron are recruiting. Aaron Williams is torn between UT and Akron right now. Three former Penn Hills teammates start on UT's defense and Rocket SS Barry Church is trying to urge him to come to UT.Rocco Pentello is hoping for an offer from OSU when he visits this weekend. If not, Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Toledo are the three schools he is looking at.BJ Cunningham may look to Michigan State now that Dantonio is there. Otherwise he was seriously considering Cincy, Miami, Akron, and Toledo.Frank Edmonds is really looking hard at Toledo, BG, Ohio, and Akron.Rontez Miles has an official visit setup with Toledo for this weekend and is expected to commit on the visit with his brother Vondre Grifin.John Hughes just committed to Michigan State.Pete Rolf is expected to choose between Toledo and Oregon.Ben Burkett looks like he will head to Northwestern.Da'Von Moore really likes Akron. He has an offer from UT and is visiting in December, but I think he is gonna pick Akron. Quote

Aaron Williams is a big time difference maker. We have our share of Penn Hills ties with David Harvey and PH grad Coach Moorhead. I hope we win this one. We need a back like him in the worst way. We have our share of Penn Hills ties with David Harvey and PH grad Coach Moorhead. I hope we win this one. We need a back like him in the worst way. Are you guys recruiting him as a running back or linebacker?UT already has a commit from a very good RB from Steubenville, runs a 4.4 forty and has rushed for over 1,600 yards with the state championship game this weekend, and we have an offer out to a 3-star running back from Cleveland and we are in his top three. Therefore, I am guessing UT is sticking with the linebacker position on Aaron. I know earlier we were just talking linebacker and Marshall came in and started talking to him about running back and he said he really rather play running back than linebacker. Might make a difference in his recruitment. Quote
gozips19 Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 recent update on rivals quotes williams that akron and ut are looking at him as a db and marshall is looking at him as rb. i hope akron can get this kid as it would increase the chances to get raush (teamate). has any one heard anything about recurits shying away till they find out j.d.'s status with the zips? rocketfootball Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 WR Tim Cortazzo committed to Toledo. He says he had offers from Toledo, Temple, Akron, and New Hampshire. I guess he actually committed to Toledo a few weeks back while on a visit for the UT/BG game. He is rated 3 stars by Scout.com.This is actually one of the few recruits that both UT and Akron have been going against for and UT won the battle. So far this year you guys have been beating us for all the recruits.......Joe Rash, Matt Rodgers, and DaVon Moore are the three that come to mind right off the bat.I guess one of us will be getting a commit from Aaron Williams too, but I have no clue where he is on that decision.
