InTheZone
well, it looks like everything in our scenario to make the MAC title game is going to play out... all except us beating Ohio. OU is losing to Miami and Can't is getting blasted by Ball St in true Can't fashion. So it looks like we were some bad officiating and a bad long snapper away from defending our title. Makes me sick. Buckzip
If we can't take care of our own business, it doesn't matter how much help others try to give us.
72 Roo
Hey pals, let's knock the crap off! We did not take care of business repeatedly this season.Stop the ridiculous excuses. OU beat us outright. They played with greater pride and spirit than we did. Their coaching staffs made adjustments. JD and ours did not. Our O line was manhandled by the OU D line. Our receivers dropped 7 freaking passes. Our D line never penetrated. Getsy made poor decisions all night long. I had a field pass for that game and I was embarrassed by what I saw and heard on our sideline. This was truly a team of underachievers. Guys we didn't execute and it is costing us a chance to go to the MACC again, slowing our evolution to a highly respected team and pointing out JD has limitations. I haven't lost hope though. We have a pipeline of talent, the facilities continue to improve (latest: new offices in the fieldhouse) and I believe JD can learn from this experience. I support him and wish him well. But he has to get a reality grip and stop the excuses of 8 plays separates us from where we are and 8-3. That's just a smokescreen and should not be tolerated by us or Mac Rhodes. I know he is under pressure but stand up and take responsibility for the underachieving product he put out on the field. JD, his staff, the seniors and the captains are responsible for accepting poor performance. The key to solving a problem is to admit you have one. We have a great future with football. I, for one, will not let anyone stop me from believing in that vision. We are doing the right things. This season set us back, but does not stop us from recovering and growing to seize our potential. This is just a bitter pill to swallow since we all know we could have done far better.
InTheZone
Well nvm. Ohio took care of Miami in the second half and we're getting our asses handed to us at the Bowl. First Zips home game I've missed in 3 years, and I'm glad I did. I'll look forward to Captain Kangaroo's assessment of this season and I plan on talking to a few of the players and giving my own. What a disappointment from a team that had the talent and the schedule to win 10 games this year. Sickening.

I really do have to disagree that "we were some bad officiating and a bad long snapper away from defending our title." This team had simply too many problems to even be considered for a bowl game. In fact I think that if the Zips had somehow managed to luck out and get to a bowl this year, they would have only embarrassed the University. I know that the last game embarrassed me. Agreed w/ everything you said. I really just made that post out of frustration because when Miami was beating OU it looked like we'd been handed another golden ticket to back into Detroit and had blown it. I think we should've beaten OU, but you know what, who really gives a damn at this point. This team that was expected to do so much I think it's safe to say is the biggest disappointment in school history. For the first time, and I have been through some HORRID Zips seasons, after all the bragging I did to family in friends in preseason I am truely embarrassed to be a Zips fan right now. Blue & Gold
Ditto. In the past, the escape clause of being a Zips fan has generally been the fact that there were no expectations not to be lived up to. Not so this season. After a solid 10 months of hope and hype concerning this football season, I feel completely defeated and emotionally drained.
