seb61
this was all a joke in my eyes and didnt mean to chap everyones ass. i have a solution and it doesnt have anything to do with ak rowdies or anti ak rowdies, it has to do with the lame marketing department. i dont even attend the university anymore but i would like to say our marketing is complete garbage and is a joke within the mac. our team is a favorite to win the conference goin into the season and yet our marketing team cant even get close to packing the jar. the solution to all of this is the maketing team can make a home court advantage by taking out all of the old ppl who sit in the seats behind the visiting team and put in bleachers that students could sit in. bottom line is marketing way below average and should be fired or re-evaluated. zipsgrl
Maybe everyone would be a little bit more supporitve of the Rowdies if they were more supportive of thier team. It seems like all they ever do is bash the opposing team. Stalking other team's players and making signs with their phone numbers.....come on guys. Maybe that's why they are so embarassing.....Not to mention the fact that the majority of the Anit Ak Rowdies have been a many games. I for one was willing to pay the money....but I wasn't allowed to join. What if I was a transfer student this semester and wanted to show my new school pride and join the AK ROWDIES??? How can a student organization stop letting students in?? These anti rowdies are not anti zips. Infact they have much love for thier school's teams. They are simply fans who do not wish to be assosciated with the rowdies.

Get into the opponents' heads.Check out this article about the best student section in America, the Cameron Crazies:http://espn.go.com/page2/s/cameron/hits.html(Also notice #10...looks like the O-Zone copied from the Crazies)Do you think Duke or Duke's players are embarrassed by them? It seems to me that you are reallllly stretching in trying to find reasons to bash the AK-Rowdies. As for other groups, that's fine. If you or others don't like how the Rowdies are run, I think it's sweet if you start your own student group. But have some class and do it without bashing the Rowdies, or any other Akron student group. We're all on the same side here, remember? I hear they do a number on the zips so we should be "positive" when OU comes to the JAR along with traitor Bubba. So we should just pat them on the back huh? We should all sing cumbaya too. Seriously, this is college sports. This is division 1. This is the big time. This aint 8th grade boys basketball no more. That point of view in no ways justifies the existence of this group. Balki Bartokomous
seems like there are quite a few people showing up (namely anyone in defense of the anti rowdies) here that haven't quite grasped the idea of not being in HS any more. good lord grow up. College is about a couple of things. Getting drunk, rooting for your college team, HATING your opponent for the night ... and learning is somewhere in there. Should we bake Ohio cookies? Oh maybe Can't would have liked a nice bowl of punch and a back rub. Better yet, why don't we give up the rowdies seats to the opposing teams fans so they can feel more at home?freaking idiots. You are the embarrassment here. EVERYONE should be concentrating on who the real enemy is. Instead we have a level 3 high school drama developing. Either grow up or go to another school. Either way, shut the hell up and quit bitching about things you have no control over. Now if you will excuse me. I'll be pregaming for the Buffalo game tomorrow. You know, Buffalo, the team we play, the organization we should be devoting time to not liking for the weekend.

I'm glad someone thinks i'm a smartass for some reason...maybe i could be balki part deux on these boards. I'm just gonna go to the games and have fun and really really really NOT care that someone thinks i'm part of an embarrassment to the school. Do you guys need a loan? I'll give you the ten bucks to join so you can come sit with us. Seriously, it's not that bad... I wish we could get away with having the rule that you have to only be wearing AKRON clothing of some kind in the student section but it's not my call. They're allowing sign ups again soon, come down and join us and fill those sections up. We all know that 75% of those that showed up for K.e.n.t. won't be in the stands for Buffalo. How 'bout we call a truce, join forces and be loud as hell. I'll only disagree in the fact that you can be the nice friendly positive cheering folks and i'm gonna be rude, crude and downright mean to our opponents. You gotta get in the opposing teams heads, and you know they can hear us. GO ZIPS and hope to see the any/all of the "anti" rowdies sitting behind the baskets with me. hoopla
zipschk. hello???? get a clue. that is what college (and even hs students) do. they cheer on their team and bash the other team. take the ozone for instance. they fill out a report and hand it to the whole student section. the report includes the opposing teams record schedule and some notes to get on us about during the game. and it also includes things to yell at our players about. anything to get them out of the game. if that is the best excuse you got then that is sad. ha. cant believe this is even being talked about on a 5th pg. You're priorities are screwed up, unless, of course, you just like being the center of attention, no matter how low you gotta go to get it. ;)Singling out and doing psych-jobs on opponent players is not alter-boy behavior, but we aren't Div-IVc Church-on-a-hill Academy from podunk Connecticut. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, wouldn't this whole thing turn out as a blessing if the anti group could somehow transform itself into a pure student support group, and even form a friendly rivalry with the rowdies that included trying to out-do each other in showing support? Should be an every game theme. Maybe with a little personal ammo we couldve covered the spread against muffalo
Bleacher Bum
In response to The Rowdy, this publication is usually at every game. The reason it wasn't at today's game was because no one really seems to use the information. It almost seems like a waste of time to put them together because the "cute" cheers aren't as effective as the Z-Fense and other noise. Some students do use The Rowdy to get in players' heads, but it seems as a whole, people just ignore them. If you want more of the The Rowdy, they will continue! sgm405
The Rowdy is good...sometimes. I wasn't a fan of the stuff printed in there concerning one of the Can't players...either Smith or Gates I think, dealing with his family...anyone who read it knows what I'm talking about. I just thought that one went a little far. But other than that, it's not bad. I do agree that the simple defense chants and others like it are more effective though.
