Watching Big East title game on Fox Sports 2.  Georgetown leads 1-0 nearing halftime.  Announcers talking a lot about the Zips, including that they subbed very little in first half vs Hoyas and tired late in that game.  GU keeper Manske made a great stop to preserve their lead vs PU.

Providence leads 1-0.....

I was listening also and the announcers were really questioning why the Zips did not sub.

If you look at box score, Georgetown subs played 302 minutes against the Zips

Zips subs played 107 minutes and it probably would have been under 50 minutes if Emil and Ashton did not get hurt

After Ashton got hurt, Daragh played 43 minutes

After Emil got hurt, Nathan Ferguson and Conor Filsinger combined to play 23 minutes.

Zips were clearly exhausted at the end of the game.

If the Zips get in, they will have to play on Thursday and Sunday if they want to get to the sweet 16.    I would love to see Maximus Barboto and James Buebendorf get playing time on Thursday night.     Nicolas Beier, Daniel Firek, Stefan Dobrijevic and Simon Guardiero are also quality players.

Early in these games, but outside of the Dayton match that was already mentioned as going in the Zips favor so far, two other ongoing matches are currently going against Akron...Princeton up 1-0 on Penn and FIU up 1-0 on Charlotte...Vermont and Bryant are still scoreless.

I'm presuming/hoping that Akron DOES get in as a "Last Four In", so how does the bracket fall?  That is, since the Top-16 get first-round byes, we would be playing on the road versus a opponent outside the 16, but not far outside, correct?

Definitely outside of the top 16 but how far is really unsure because the committee usually tries to keep geographical proximity in mind.

If FIU does end up beating Charlotte, there would be 12 league winners with RPI’s above 40.

logically, that would say that the top 16 seeds and the 16 teams hosting Thursday night games would be comprised of the 10 league winners with high RPI’s and 22 at large teams with RPI’s below the low 30’s.

if the zips are one of the last 4, they will probably be on the road against a team with an RPI between 29 and 32.

Western Michigan and Michigan ( if they lose Big Ten title game) could be likely opponents

The Zips are head and shoulders abov both these teams.

totally agree....can not believe that Penn currently has an RPI in the top 8

Cal and Fordham are both still just a little higher than the Zips above the predicted cut line. Cal definitely falls out and I think Fordham does as well.

Cal is ineligible because they have a losing record against D1 teams. They played one non-D1 team.

Thanks for all these updates everyone. I hope the Zips get into the tournament. The Big East regular season champs, especially Beto and Emil, deserve the opportunity to continue to showcase their talents.
