We would find out then if schools are trying to win championships or using their football program as a fundraising tool. They could probably eliminate some confusion by making the MAC season 9 games. They do only count conference games, but solely because Ohio and Toledo did not play other, they didn't count those games. I like the "mini conference" concept where their records against each other count as the first criteria whether they all played each other or not. Quote

If three teams finish 7-1 in the MAC and two had 3ooc wins and the third only 2 ooc wins, the two ten win teams go. Quote

I understand they beat Western Michigan and neither Ohio nor Toledo did, but man I think they need to relook at the tie criteria when you have two head to head losses with the teams you're tied with and still advance. Time for a 4-team MAC playoff 😅 Quote
exit322 Posted yesterday at 05:54 PM Report Posted yesterday at 05:54 PM This is a 2026 thing but... If we get Duke, Troy, and UNLV Conference champions, UNLV at 11-2 (having avenged one of the 2) is a very possible playoff team Which means Akron could possibly host a playoff team next year. Quote

If Duke wins it gets really interesting because the playoffs guarantee to the 5 highest rated conference champions, and JMU and either Tulane/North Texas would likely be rated higher than Duke. But I think you're right if JMU loses, UNLV could sneak in there. 1 Quote

ZippyRulz Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Wrong thread by a couple of years but Mark Stoops is out at Kentucky. And incidentally, Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades is stepping down from both his duties for the Bears and as the College Football Playoff selection committee's chairman for "personal reasons," according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger. There's a lot of speculation that those "personal reasons" are highly correlated with alcohol consumption, but I have absolutely no first-hand knowledge of that. Quote
