zippy5 Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Some talk about donating in other threads and it probably deserves its own spot - it's very easy to setup a recurring donation. I encourage everyone to support however they are able. It all adds up and our program deserves the support. https://www.feartheroocollective.com/contribute-zipsmensbasketball 3 Quote
kreed5120 Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Mods, is it possible to sticky a post? I'm sure all the regulars are well aware of FTR, but we might draw some additional foot traffic from the casual visitors come tournament time. It's useful to make them aware. 2 Quote
LZIp Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Serious question - what’s the point of donating to the collective at this point when you can donate directly to the sport of your choice’s revenue sharing fund (and potentially get a tax deduction you wouldn’t get from donating to the collective). I'm almost certain athletic department contributions are no longer tax deductible unless it's to do something like endow an athletic scholarship. Even if it is you would have to itemize to get the deduction. Only 7%-10% of Americans itemize. I'm not one of them. I'm fairly certain the athletic department is only allowed to revenue share 22% of athletic department revenue. This excludes Hollywood math, like student fees, that ADs try to claim as revenue. That means if Akron generates $10M in revenue they are only allowed to revenue share $2.2M. That excellence fund is to help cover that $2.2M so Akron doesn't have to pay for it out of pocket. FTR isn't tied to any cap. I'm not 100% certain of everything I've said, but that's the conclusion that I've gathered from my previous internet search into the matter. If I misspoke someone please correct me. At the end of the day there must be a reason to have both otherwise we likely wouldn't have both. I trust Bud with my money more than I do Akron's administration. Edited 50 minutes ago by kreed5120 Quote
zippy5 Posted 39 minutes ago Author Report Posted 39 minutes ago The last line is mostly it for me. Also, I believe all my money going to the collective is going to players and the athletic department would have other uses even if it's all to basketball. I'm not saying there's a bad choice either. I'll get the official athletic link in here too when I have a chance. Bottom line we should all support however we are able imo 1 Quote
