Current standings are below: Tonight's results from around the conference did not help the Zips' chances of winning the division or making the Big East tournament...In short: To win the division, Akron needs to win and have Creighton draw or lose (unless Akron and Creighton both lose, and Xavier wins OR if Akron draws and Creighton losses) If Akron wins over Marquette, we're into the Big East tournament. We could make it with a draw depending on other results. (there's way too many scenarios to go through) I also just want to note for the fun of it, Butler can still win the Midwest division, and be the only team from the division to make the Big East tournament, with one specific scenario (Butler win, Xavier/Akron/Creighton losses). Basically, almost everything is still up in the air. 😅 (Akron is going to the NCAA tournament regardless) As always, good analysis here are the maximum point totals for each team that can make big east tournament I am ignoring Georgetown as they have already reached the tournament Creighton can reach 15 with a home win over DePaul Akron can reach 15 with a road win at Marquette UConn can reach 15 with a home win over Georgetown Seton Hall can reach 14 with home win over cellar dweller Villanova Butler only has 2 wins all year they are 2-8-3 and 2-2-2 in the league however, they can reach 14 with a road win at Providence on Tuesday and a home win on Friday over Xavier Marquette can reach 12 with a home win over Akron Xavier can reach 12 with a road win at Butler Quote
TennZip Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Author Report Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Butler defeated Providence 3-1 on Tuesday November 3. Butler now has 11 points in the league with a record of 3-2-2 Butler can reach 14 points if they win Friday night at home against Xavier. Butler full season record is 3 wins, 8 losses and 3 ties Quote
Zips1991 Posted yesterday at 04:39 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:39 AM Updated Big East seeding going into the last day. Red teams are eliminated from tournament contention. These do not reflect any tiebreakers for current seeds. I just sorted ties however I wanted. 😆 1 Quote
MDZip Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago With the way the results have fallen, Zips need a win against Marquette. A loss would almost certainly knock the Zips out of the Big East tournament and even a tie would put them on shaky ground. There are lots of scenarios outlined in the Big East web site, but the Zips make the Big East tourney if they win, but can't get the two seed without a Creighton tie/loss. https://www.bigeast.com/sports/2026/10/8/MSOC_1008263346.aspx 1 Quote

It's the same match up, regardless. However, dropping to 4 and having to play Georgetown the first match in their (our, mine and your) back yard is a tough draw.
