The Hip Zip
Let me just say THANK YOU for the wonderful support you gave to our hoops team. You guys and gals were just tremendous this season. I'm a 50 yr old alum that has supported the program and held season tickets for many years. It seemed like many of those years we were alone on an island in support of the Zips but you guys have made a ton of progress in a short period of time. The JAR has been fun place to be again and a lot of the credit goes to you. My wife and I go to several road games and thought it was fantastic how you turned out in high numbers at Toledo and Can't as well. We still are not where we need to be as a fan base, but rest assured that as you continue to grow so will the enthusiam of the general community which will lead to the betterment of the entire program.Again, GREAT JOB !!! See you in Cleveland.
Blue & Gold
I'd also like to say you guys are GREAT!!! I'm 34 and have been a regular at the JAR for about 15 years now, and I really must say I've never seen it rock so hard! But what most impresses me is how CREATIVE you Rowdies are! Please don't let yourselves sink to the embarassing level that the Can't students sunk to Sunday night. They truly made fools of themselves. Dropping the F-bomb and all the middle fingers and crotch grabbing. It was literally sad. So, Rowdies, keep doing what you're doing! Stay ENTHUSIASTIC! Stay ENERGETIC! Stay CREATIVE! And don't fall into the pathetic mental/moral ditch in which your average Can't student resides! You guys are WAY better than that!
Bleacher Bum
Thanks for the kind words. I know the organization can only grow, especially as the team gets better. Hopefully a MAC Championship and a few NCAA Tournament wins will get everyone more excited about this team.

GoZips88
A huge THANK YOU from me and the rest of my family as well. I watch you guys during a game almost as much as I watch the game itself! Kyle and I had a great time on the bus trip to Toledo and I also appreciate how well all of you conduct yourselves at the games. Love how organized and varied the cheers are. Alumni have certainly taken notice and here's to hoping more of the students join the fun as time goes on. Have a great time this week in Cleveland! skip-zip
Hey Students.....Let me just urge all of you not to miss out on this opportunity in Cleveland this week. I spent my senior year at Akron being fortunate enough to experience our last conference championship in 1986. I'm now in my 40's, and certainly thought it would happen again long before now, but it never did. But if you've been reading the posts, I have very vivid and exciting memories of that year. I even still have some of the newspaper articles!!!Now....we're in great position to win this thing this year!! So don't miss out !!GO TO CLEVELAND...and...GO IN HUGE NUMBERS. If we can create a home-court atmosphere in Cleveland, we'll walk out of there with the MAC title and a bid to the NCAA tournament.Then....you can have a lifetime of stories to tell about the experience, just like those of us here on the board that were students at that time. Valpo Zip
Thank you guys for the encouragement... Personally, I am hopefully graduating this summer, and i will be relocated to the NW Ohio area, only 2.5 hours away from here... I am planning to become a season ticket holder but i am definitely not planning to become one of those who sit on their hands during the games. Although i won't be sitting in the rowdies seats behind the baskets, i will still have the rowdy blood and be loud and crazy wherever i'm seated. The reason of this post is to find out if there are any alumnus (or graduating rowdies) who feel the need to create a new AK-OLDIES organization. In my undergrad days I followed the Basketball team to Evansville for the NCAA (Division II) Tournament and the Football Team to Murfreesboro for the Grantland Rice Bowl. Those were some of the best memories from my undergraduate days, they were definately better than Western Cult class. GO ZIPS .............. GoZips88
How about reserving the two lower-level chairback sections closest to the south end Rowdies for us AK-OLDIES? As OUR numbers grow, we'll make a grab for the two sections closest to the north ROWDIES and begin to squeeze in towards the middle. If we do it right, we'll catch them all sleeping and they'll never know what hit them! Just kidding big donors ... sorta. I'll be in the upper-chairbacks waiting for the word. Those around me can confirm that I don't sit on my hands and I do my share of the yelling and bad-mouthing the refs! Love the AK-OLDIES idea. The Hip Zip
Ah yes, Western Cult and Eastern Civ..... Those lectures were about as stimulating as drinking a keg of Vicks NyQuil. I honestly can't remember a single moment. When somebody makes up the AK Oldies tee shirts mark me down for a couple. Don't forget the AK Ancients for the blue hairs (and no hairs) in the really good seats.

Captain Kangaroo
The first AK-Rowdy to spot me at the Lizard or Boneyard gets a free beer! I'll also buy the first Rowdy I see a beer (that might be easier) I urge the remainder of the ZipsNation to do likewise tomorrow!!

Haha. As far as today goes, there were no actual "student sections." There were about 12 loud fans from Buffalo, but that's it. Also, I think the Rowdies are gonna be in section 133, which I believe is gonna be opposite of our band, cheerleaders and dance team. The better seeded team was always opposite of section 133 today. Agent Zero
If anybody needs a ride back, I'll be sticking around for the Can't game, because as everyone knows, and it's always fun harassing their fans. Does anyone else want Western to win besides me?And Bleacher Bum, you were there? Where the heck were you sitting?
zipsbandman
I almost think the Akron fans should stay for the Can't game to try to help out Western a bit. Make not mistake, we do not want to see Can't!!
Valpo Zip
I was trying to talk to people at Akron so that the Rowdies bus stay for the Can't game. So far, the word is that (unless we lose our game), we should stay there to see the first half of Can't state game. Some one promissed me that they will do what they can to make us stay the whole game.

Forget playing them Friday. Western would be a better match-up because they would have played two games by the time we play them.
