Does anyone think he has a chance to play in the league? He has NBA range and he is pretty good defensively, and he knows how to get his teammates the ball (holds the all time assist record in akron history) and he doesnt turn the ball over much (had one of the best assist to turn over ratios in the league the past few years). I know people will say he doesnt because of his height..... But look at the Earl Boykins, and Nate Robinsons of the NBA. I know I will catch some heck from people, but im just curious as to what others think.

Dru Joyce has no chance to play in the NBA. Earl Boykins similarities to Dru end with the fact that they are both short.

Earl Boykins is a scorer. He averaged 26.8 points a game at EMU his senior year. Dru is not nearly the athlete that Boykins and Robinson are. Nate was a cornerback for the Huskies and has won some slam dunk contests. Nate averaged 16.4 points while playing in a much tougher(PAC-10) conference. Dru does have NBA range but his delivery is way too slow and he's just not strong enough. I say he plays a few seasons somewhere like the IBL, and then gets into coaching.

Dru's has NBA range, but he shoots the ball from his shoulders and not from above his head = too tought to get that shot off in the league. Also, Dru has NBA handles, but he's not explosive/quick enough for the league. Actually, he wasn't explosive enough for the MAC! With the exception of Cedrick, we didn't have any guards who could regularly beat their defender off the dribble and get into the paint. That's why I'm excited to see what Ronnie Steward brings next season! He should give us some needed quickness at the PG spot, which will open things up for everyone else. And if Darryl Roberts is eligible and playing, all the better!

Blue and Gold...you hit it on the head.Dru Joyce would never be able to shake an NBA defender. And the NBA has no room for a guard who cannot penetrate or create his own shot. Plus, I'm not sure he could guard any NBA-level guard either. If you look back, Eric McLaughlin never made it to the NBA either, and he had some of these skills which Dru does not have. But this is not to say that Dru has not done a nice job being our floor general for the last few years. We'll miss him.

Given the experience of Maverick Carter (who I assume is still working for Nike/LeBron), I would guess Dru and Rome could have a future on a bigger stage than Akron, Ohio -- if they choose one.

I think that Romeo will have a chance to go overseasy and play pro ball for a few years just like Preston (All star in Bulgaria) and Futch (Portugal). Dru would probably work as an assistant for his dad at St. V for few years before KD brings him back as an assistant in Akron. He should be a great recruiter.KD, Rick McFadden and Dru on our bench sounds exciting to me.

Dru is an exceptionally hard worker. Because of this, he will do well in any job he takes after college, with the exception of being an NBA player.Send me your resume DJ, there are always companies looking for someone like you.

If he wants it, I can see him becoming a graduate assistant at UA next year.
I agree. I think he would make a fine addition. I believe he will become a wonderful coach one day.
