Should players be reading these forums?

I've recently heard of players who read posts on forums like this one. It's been discussed on Yappi (a HS forum for Ohio) and other players. But I want to ask you, should Akron players read our posts?

It shouldn't matter as long as they keep in mind that 99.9% of us internet schmucks don't know what we are talking about but love to sound like we do.How hard would it be to just lurk in a forum where they are talking about you? That's gotta be rough.

I was always under the impression that players currently on the team are forbidden to comment on sites like this. I have no idea if they can lurk, but who would want to if you can't post when we spend all day talking about you?

YES. They should be required to read all posts, occasionally make their own posts, and be subject to pop quizzes regarding all posts in order to maintain their eligibility.

Why not?Say you're an Ohio State player. Should you turn off the television, the local TV, ESPN...not listen to the local or national sports talk...not read the local papers?In a city devoid of ANY media exposure for the local D1-A sports program, we talk about it 24/7/365. The various coaching staffs should be grateful that we've created a forum to get people excited and talking about their programs. And I think 95% of the coaches like ZipNation. I believe most student athletes take it for what it is and have fun with it too.If your offense punts 13 consecutive times...and if you're involved with the Zips offense personally...you probably should avoid clicking on a post titled "Our Sucky Offense." But if you do click on it...you should be objective enough to say..."If I were a fan, I guess I'd be pretty miffed if my team went 50 minutes without a first down too."We make certain to keep the talk here as clean, informative, "pro-Zips" and entertaining/stupid as possible. If I were a Zips player, I'd check it out.

If college players turn on the TV or look at a newspaper they may see praise or criticism of themselves or their team or their coaches from the media so I doubt if it matters much if they read what Joe sixpack says on a fan forum...I'm sure they already have enough confidence and thick enough skin to not put much stock in it. I would prefer to think that the administration checks in to see what the fans like and dislike about the program and to pick up on any useful suggestions. At least we know that UAM visited once in a while.

I believe it is 2 fold. If you are a defensive player, you are probably enjoying visiting here. If you are an offensive player you may want to stay away.Maybe they can use it as motivation to do better and read good stuff.

I think JD should get a screen name and give us daily strategy updates.Then I want the players to come on here and debate JD's plans.That would be awesome
