One of the things I always liked about listening to French is his wearing his emotions on his sleeve. When things don't look good, you can tell by the tone in his voice. You can hear that tone at the beginning of this call when things don't look good for the Zips and then the change is great.

I heard it live Saturday night and have replayed it a dozen times today and it still is as exciting. I'm already pumped up for Saturday night. It is hard to believe that some of the powers to be running the AD's office back in the mid 90's wanted to run French for just that type of call. I love having a "fan" calling the game.Keep it up Steve! :thumb:

I e-mailed Mack Rhoades this morning and suggested he play that call on the PA system at the Rubber Bowl just prior to the PA announcer saying "All right, Zip fans, UP ON YOUR FEET! HERE are YYYOURRRR AKRON ZIPS!!!" Too bad we don't have a video screen at The Dump ... er ... the Rubber Bowl. I sure hope someone is able to get the video out on YouTube. Nobody at home to record it on the DVR for me. I wonder if the video can be married with Steve and Frank's call if that already hasn't already been done (wouldn't mind hearing how the Western guys called it too!).Thanks for contacting 1350AM and for the link! :thumb:

My son and I left Indianapolis just after the start of the game and listened to it and the post-game show on the 5-hour drive home. I called my wife  on my mobile phone, she pulled up the audio on the computer, cranked up the speakers, placed the phone right up against one of the speakers, and my son and I enjoyed the game via mobile phone speakerphone. I about drove off of the road on I-71 just north of Columbus as my son and I high-fived each other and yelled and screamed right along with French and Stams. Right up there with the final play in Detroit a couple of years ago ... we were in Detroit and WISH we had been in Kalamazoo. Can't wait to see the video on gozips.com.

Now that's a dedicated Zip fan.I was in a tent at Hocking Hills State Park with the Boy Scouts dying to hear what was happening. My friend, who was visiting Las Vegas, laid down some cash on the Zippers (got ten points, ha ha), left a message on my cell phone that the score was 39-38...BUT HE DIDN'T TELL ME WHO WON.I was dying! On the way back the next morning, I called my oldest son at home and had him read the article into the phone. The Zips win Saturday and the Indians win Friday made for an enjoyable weekend. What a weekend!

Jason called in to the post-game show from Wake Forest, North Carolina and mentioned that you were out of town camping. I felt for ya! See you Saturday afternoon!

That recording is great. They start out with absolutely no hope in their voices as the play begins, then it builds to an unbelievable crescendo with absolute joy in their delivery.Mr. Stams, however, has got to learn not to step on his play-by-play man though. The color guy on the Bengals network does that all the time.

Frenchie has that voice of impending gloom, disaster and doom just after the ball got past Owens initially..then the rising cresendo of unbridled virtuosity!! What a great byte!! Go Zips!! :screwks:

I'm sitting here, watching ESPN2 and waiting for the playing of the game winning return, so I figured I'd listen to the audio 1st. Outstanding!!! As someone said, Frenchie always wears his emotions on his sleeve, and this play allows him to run the gamut! I can't wait to see it in a minute. Go Zips!!!
