It's here. In less than a week, we will see them again. And they are a better team than last year. I shouldn't have to say anything to get you guys ready. It's all been said before.I know Dayton is the last team we can afford to overlook this year, but it is the game saturday that I am looking foward to the most.In order to move on, we must first look to the past. What the hell happened at the Q last March? What happened afterwards that sent a message to us all that the MAC has lost it's respect and is now DOA in the public eye?Read every one of these links. It's painful, yes, but we need to have the emotion and the energy that we had as if it were only a few days since the darkest few days in Zips history. They are in chronologic order, to the best of my ability. Some articles were not archived and I can't find copies of them, so it's mostly Rasor's stuff, although he does a good job of summarizing the other reporter's thoughts.UNBELIEVABLEthe morning afterNo Miracle bid for UAUNBELIEVABLE, PART TWONIT Contact InformationPluto: This is an outrageFerrise: The case against UA's NIT bidDan Wetzle's of Yahoo Sports thoughtsWhere the MAC goes from hereZipsnation - From a Toledo FanZipsnation - Bracket BurningZipsnation - The EmailsAlso, just look at every thread posted here in March and April. You can see the rationalizations starting to form in our minds very quickly, a probable result of being NE Ohio sports fans. If this happened to a team in any other area with a different mindset, I garuantee things might have turned out differently with the way they responded to us, and the way we responded to ourselves. We started fighting eachother and making excuses, rather than finding a way to fight an obvious injustice. And it was all caused by one lucky shot made by a Miami player, and assisted by the vast imcompetency of the MAC officials. I hate the MAC officials and their organization, and I FRIGGIN HATE MIAMI.Be there on Saturday. Be there, be loud, and be angry. Stand up the whole game, and if anyone asks you to sit down, tell them off for not caring enough about our Zips to stand up and cheer. Saturday we take our revenge.FACEBOOK EVENT FOR THE GAME. JOIN IT AND INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS. - Our goal is to have at least 200 students there, and that's just for starters.

That did get me fired up for Saturday's game. Lets go Zips and SWEEP (home-away- and MAC tournament) Miami this year!

God I hate the sweaters ...BOTH ends behind the baskets should be absolutely PACKED for the Miami game. "... but the students aren't back from break yet" doesn't cut it. Facebook, phone calls, ... WHATEVER - those of you who are definitely planning to go need to drag one or two others with you. A helluva way to start the MAC season and Dambrot and the boys deserve a good turnout.I'd like to come out of the Dayton game with a win but I'd also like to come out of it healthy and with enough gas left in the tank to send Miami packing with a 'L.' GO ZIPS!

Miami needs to know that they got lucky. And how do we do that? Shove every possible point down there throat. The Rowdies have to be loud. Fans need to show up and be into it and be standing up when a chain of good things happen. This game is almost as worse as Can't State, so let's treat it like a Can't game. LET's GO ZIPS :puke: MIAMI (OH)

I hate to say this, but Miami owns us in BB and FB when it counts. Sure we get the occasional win here and there, but think about all the times they have been the school that has kept us from having a great season. Big Ben's Hail Mary, 2004 MAC East Championship, Last season in BB, ......... We hate Miami, but they know they've got our #. Seems to me that when they are supposed to be good, they are and when they aren't supposed to be good, they still end up with a championship, or at least close to one. They are the cocky, athletic, good looking, rich, smart, kid in high school. I think the JAR MUST be rocking if we are going to beat Miami. The team will need the JAR to be a hostile environment.

Almost forgot. The following link has been determined to be psychologically disturbing to any and all Zips fans. Click at your own risk, but it is the only way to truely get fired up for Saturday. It may trigger a flare-up in alchoholism or a state of depression. It will test your state of mind as a Zips fan.You have been warned.The end of the MAC championship game. :puke:

I still have last year's championship game on tape, and I decided to watch it again the other day.During that game, they patiently worked the inside-out game. Romeo had some success guarding Politz inside, but it looked like Wood struggled when he was guarding him. That concerns me.And what happens when Politz gets stopped? They kick it to the guys on the perimeter, and our guards seemed to struggle during that game getting back outside to put a hand in their face. AND, all of their outside shooters return from last year.I really think we'll need a top-notch effort to win this one. The home court advantage and the fans will need to help make the difference.

One thing that will be interesting to keep an eye on will be Ced Middleton. Even though UA made only 1 FG in the last like 8 minutes of the game, he was fall guy for missing the FT at the end that set up Peno's Prayer.Will he try to step up and take over the game as a comeback? If so, does he come through or struggle?Here is the game story from the Canton Rep, which was an AP story by Tom Withers, on the MAC championship game.http://www.cantonrep.com/archive/index.php...amp;Category=17

=>Hope the Zippies dun did worn themselves out enuff last nite vs. them Fliers!Miami has played just two teams (5-12 Chi State and 6-7 Cincinnati) with a non-winning record. So, why not have the RedHawks start MAC play @ 10-3 Akron, @ 9-4 Ohio, and then host 10-3 Can't. Oy vey! If Miami comes out of those 3 games 1-2, the RedHawks would be in the hunt in the East.Miami's Schedule So Far: Date Rank W-L Opponent Result RPIR RPI SOSR SOS $$ Nov 13 20 10-3 Xavier W 59-57 8 0.7500 21 0.6667 Nov 22 62 9-3 vs South Alabama (1) W 64-59 9 0.7708 20 0.6944 Nov 23 68 9-3 vs Southern California (1) L 53-57 28 0.6698 18 0.6880 Nov 25 150 8-5 vs Mississippi St (1) W 67-60 11 0.7122 5 0.7089 Nov 28 7 12-1 Dayton L 62-63 29 0.6464 3 0.6885 Dec 1 99 9-4 @ Louisville L 44-47 26 0.6433 3 0.7030 Dec 4 111 6-5 Indiana St W 74-58 37 0.6214 10 0.6565 Dec 15 39 8-3 @ Wright St L 57-58 60 0.5883 7 0.6275 Dec 18 208 3-12 Chicago St W 74-68 64 0.5785 12 0.6002 Dec 20 119 8-5 @ Illinois W 61-58 OT 39 0.6044 10 0.6089 Dec 22 9 12-0 @ Kansas L 54-78 23 0.6167 5 0.6379 ? Your not looking for sympathy from a Zips fan are you? :P
=>No. I am looking for sympathy from a Zips player abd/or coach!Clark Kellogg and CBS spend 4 minutes previewing Miami/Akron:
Very nice! Thanks for the link! I know the MAC gets absolutely NO respect on a national level, but I really love the handful of rivalries we've got: Miami, Ohio, and K-e-n-t. MAN, I LOVE TO HATE ALL THOSE GUYS! Throw in Toledo (whom, unfortunately, we do not always get to play) and you've got a heated conference schedule! Lots of fun; life is good. :)
