nickskin
Will Fleming did not go to Michigan State this past weekend as the Spartans are now full at LB. It appears that Fleming will stay home and play for his father at Akron.

GoZips88
Any idea when we'll know one way or the other for sure?
blueandgold
Any idea when we'll know one way or the other for sure?I'm guessing we won't know anything for sure until NLOI day next week.
Captain Kangaroo
I am hearing the same thing. I'd be surprised if he isn't included in the 2008 Zips class.

Z.I.P.
Rivals.com has a story saying that Will committed to his dad and Akron earlier today.Take THAT WAC! Boise St. and Hawai'i were the only others to offer, I believe (no other MAC offers?). Now who was it said he would never turn down the Paradise of the Pacific? He turned down June Jones' offer of a visit, which was to be the weekend of the UH-BSU game.
Blue & Gold
If he's a Zip, that kinda gives us an extra scholarship right? Doesn't he go to Akron for free since his dad is an employee?

Doesn't he go to Akron for free since his dad is an employee? That's an interesting question. I remember when Andy Hipsher played there was some hub bub about him being on scholarship because if he weren't, he couldn't get travel per diem and his hotel paid? Do I recall this correctly? It was about 10 years ago that the topic arose. Can anyone add some insight here?
Zip Watcher
I think in Andy's case, it came down to things like Fees / Books / Stipend that are covered in a full ride case. The guy passed up several offers elsewhere to stay here, and rumor (I stress that RUMOR) was that DHip's wife insisted he be treated the same as he would have at any school he could have gone to.That's my recollection, I could be wrong. I do recall that Andy committed early, which limited the efforts of other schools to recruit him. When we were up at Syracuse watching the Zips in ?2000? .. there was an article in the local fishwrap where Boheem was quoted as saying they would have chased him & offered if it wasn't clear that he wanted to play for his old man. Zips fan
Employees get a discount on tuition, room and board but it is not free. An athletic scholarship covers tuition, room, board and books. When traveling their is no difference between a walk on or scholarship athlete. Everyone gets their per diem and room covered. UA1987
Flemming would appear to be a nice fit at Rover if we continue to run the 3-3-5.
Dr Z
"I am officially committed to the Akron Zips," Fleming, who is the No. 44 player in Ohio, said. "I committed today. My dad was really excited about the news."Click here for source
Blue & Gold
Once again, this appears to be a very, very good class. Good grief, I hope Matt Rodgers is the man. It sickened me last season to see such talent wasted away by awful QB play.
