72 Roo
woohoo, lost my old computer in a tragic beer-spilling accident so I have been M.I.A. while awaiting my new one. But thankfully it's here and I have returned. Boy, I started on page 46 and a couple hours later I'm up to date on page 64!!Here's a new one for you guys. The past few nights there has been a helicopter flying around late at night(midnight-ish) shining a spotlight on the stadium facilities. Is this to keep trespassers at bay? Interesting...Don't care about the computer, but gotta confess, I shed a few tears about he beer. The good ones are always gone beforeyou know it. bUAkronG
That, my friend, its ghetto bird. It''s main priority is to keep tabs on the area a few miles south of campus, but it routinely flies as far north as exchange. I hate it. Make's me feel more like I'm in Compton than anything else. Akron PD has nothing better to do, so they make an enormous effort to stop college drinking/vandalizing instead of focusing on the important crap. Not to imply that I condone the stadium being vandalized. I'll let them watch that thing all day.Haha that makes sense then!! I also wondered why I saw it fly away quite a few times. But that makes sense then. If they're already flying in the area it doesn't hurt to make an extra round.I just thought it was specifically for the stadium because I've never seen it before this year and I've been here for 3 years.woohoo, lost my old computer in a tragic beer-spilling accident so I have been M.I.A. while awaiting my new one. ZachTheZip
New interactive Infocision Stadium - Summa Field website.http://www.channel1media.com/akron/2009/Now THAT's a website to get you pumped up for opening day! :blink:And they have sign-ups for a free luxury suite for a game!Edit: The mentioned a "Landscape for Champions" in the Z-fund section. I'm guessing that's what they are calling the athletic portion of the Landscape for Learning initiative.Edit again: You wanted to know where we'll be parking? Check this out: http://channel1media.com/akron/2009/data/m...ectors_lots.pdfThey have two construction areas. One is the expanded Exchange parking deck. The second one to the north is probably going to be the new polymer building right next to the current polymer-engineering college.
BostonZip
New interactive Infocision Stadium - Summa Field website.http://www.channel1media.com/akron/2009/I noticed in the Virtual Tour (found under the Premium Seating tab) that there are four tall light towers shown in each corner of both end zones, with the letter "A" in the middle of the two poles that form each tower. These don't appear on the stadium rendering. Was this an earlier idea that was dropped? The Virtual Tour also shows much taller light towers above the east stands than those that appear in the rendering.
Blue & Gold
The endzone building is going to add another unique feature to The Info. It looks like it's going to make a great porch area on which to stand and watch the game - sort of like the Home Run Porch in left field of Progressive Field. Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that in order to consume alcohol inside The Info, you may have to purchas the beer on that porch and keep it there until you're finished. If you look at the renderings, they have two tent-like structures that sort of fence off the porch/roof of the endzone building. They might be intending to make that a "Beer Garden" inside The Info? Looking at the cams, you can see open shafts at the top where those buildings will be. They'll be used as the main entrances for the stairs and elevators. The west building will have stairs and an elevator, the east side just stairs. Keep in mind I am only basing this off of logical deduction based on the renderings and what i see on the webcams. I don't see UofA having a beer garden at college football stadium.

ZachTheZip
Anybody notice the improvements that are being made to the Jackson Track and Field Complex?Looks like a bunch of new aluminum bleachers and a nice new brick entryway. Those improvements are because we're hosting the MAC outdoor track championships in two weeks. Whatever they're doing, it will have to be done quickly. The entrance won't be accessible because of the stadium construction, so they will be using the old entrance which is just a gate in the fence. Zipsrifle
Doing some grading on the field today presumably for the turf. Still have some supplies on the field by the north endzone so they can't start laying any artificial turf on that end. They got quite a bit of field work to do before they get to laying the turf. But, per our resident posters who took the tour they said they'd start working on the field the end of April. equipment on the north end should be gone relatively soon. They're nearly halfway done, if not farther, with the brickwork. All this work recently is really making me excited!!Thanks for the info.It looks like they're closing in on finishing the brickwork on the endzone facility from the top where I can see the brickwork from the cam.I'm thinking a lot of that equipment will be gone by next weekend.Wow, that brick work look very nice! This stadium is going to be FREAKING AMAZING!!! Nobody, I mean NOBODY in the MAC will even come close to this place!!! I'm really getting excited!! This will be one of the nicest stadiums in the country(notice I said nicest, not BIGGEST). Our athletic department is looking beyond the MAC, and rightfully so. xu9697
Excuse my ignorance= is the Family Section on the same side as the press box or is it on the side facing the press box (and the rest of campus)? I thought I had it figured out at one point, but now I am a bit confused.

For the out-of-towners on this board they are like a breath of fresh air. This next point is a little off the subject, but it does tie in. When will the landscaping of the Coleman Commons begin? I hope it is completed before the first game. It will make a huge impression on our alumni, visitors and recruits, both academic and athletic.Anyone know? Can never figure out if that is the building for the locker rooms (my guess) or the scoreboard. Thanks again.

It's even in some of ME87's pictures. It's the green space between the baseball fields and Buchtel Hall. Then again, maybe it's not, because I could've sworn I read something about a fountain of some sort and an amphitheater...hm..

They still need to do the fountain, ampitheater, removal of the tennis courts and the construction of that oval... so it'll be another few years before its 100% done. Keep in mind that the new Soccer stadium still needs to be built, so they're probably keeping that project in mind with this project.
