OU Postgame

This one deserves its own topic....We break OUs 12 game home winning streak. And score far more points than they ever give up at home. How about all of us fearing this stretch of road games at OU and Miami, and we win them BOTH. Unbelievable!!Wood seems to have benefited from 3 weeks rest (he needed it), and C. McKnight FINALLY gives us that other piece of the puzzle in the paint. Our inside/out game is working again...FINALLY.Cedrick...he's really come on. A few of games ago, we were all pretty much counting him out for the remainder of the year...weren't we??Thank God for 60% shooting. Great offensive execution tonight. Only 9 total turnovers. We made the most of our offensive opportunities. Have to keep doing that. We got our butts beat on the board tonight. Have to improve that before the tournament. Could this be yet another example of a team that peaks at the END of the season...and wins it all??Stay Tuned.Go Zips!!!

Really feels good right now heading into the Can't game doesn't it?! :D Fantastic win tonight and stretch run so far. Would have never thunk it, especially with Wood's knee situation and Ced working through his own problems. LOVE how the bracket has set up ... Can't 1, Western 2, and Akron 3.Sunday can't get her soon enough and then it's on to the tourney! GO ZIPS!!!!!

Wow..I don't want to forget something.....Nick Dials is not a point guard....but isn't he really emerging as the guy that you want to be holding the ball at the end of a game? What a warrior. He's always been that guy. But now he's our man to have the ball, make the key pass, and shoot free throws at the end of the game.

Amen. End-of-game free throws are S-O important and he's about as dependable as they come. Frenchy said Dials saluted the OZone with his arms in the shape of an 'O' over his head before heading off the floor - :thumb:

GoZips88...If I were French, I would have so much trouble calling a OU/Akron game. He is an OU alum. But, he is such a homer for the Zips now. That's funny that he did that. He's a Zip now...and he shows it (I guess he knows where his paycheck comes from) :D
I hope the wording of my post didn't confuse you. French said DIALS saluted the OZone. I had the word 'he' in there and that would have referred back to French himself (whoops!). I modified my post.I've often wondered how French feels when calling Akron/OU football and basketball. I love that he is a homer and wears his emotions on his sleeve. As zip37 said, OU may have just been his meal ticket. Sounds like French's daughter is now at OU though. I wonder if she's also majoring in something Akron doesn't offer or whether she's just another OU party animal? ;)

a few thoughts i'd like to add1. i think k.d. did a fantastic job yesterday. seemed to keep the team fresh, spread the floor and slowed the game down and fed the post when williams was out, offensive and defensive subs. 2. with c. mcknight stepping up his game this team reminds me of last years team with wood and mcknight playing hi low and the guards moving the ball around to get open shots. this is the best ball movement the team has had all year! 3. i didn't count but this was the most amount of dunks that i've seen in the k.d. era. way to attack the hoop.4. nit picking here but when you get to the one and one point with 10 min to go you need to take advantage of it. they really should have opened up the game at that point.5. about a week ago i suggested that akron go to the zone since they couldn't guard anyone. man was i wrong. got to give props to coach and major props to ced and c. mcknight. with ced playing the passing lanes and mcknight getting a little more physical on the blocks it has really opened things up for the zips.can't wait for sunday and for the tourney to start!!!!!!!!!!!!! :screwks:

That's awesome. Dials gave the "O" sign to the OU students as he left the floor. It can't get any better than that.
Of course it's awesome when it's our guy doing it. But Bubba got lambasted back in January on this board for acknowledging the Rowdies. W00t posted an hour ago on the Bubba thread "Every time he looked at the Zips bench after scoring last night just like when he yelled at the Rowdies at the JAR drove the point home that we were in his head... " We all lambasted Ham-and-Cheese for yelling "checkmate" after the first K-ent game. To me, let the Rowdies give the O sign to the OU students. Dials should just go off the floor. You want a picture of Dials giving the student section the "O" posted in OU's locker room before we meet them in the MAC championship?

Dials waited until AFTER the game. Big distinction.
Exactly he waited until it was over. He wasn't taunting the O-zone the entire game.you guys act like Bill Belichick, let him have some fun...big win on the road :)
I am sorry! i didn't like it. Fans should act like fans (heckling and taunting) while players should stick to doing their job in winning on the hardwood (which dials does perfectly).I thought that his action yesterday was uncalled for.

If you dish out the smack, you need to be able to take it too. Dials is subjected to some really harsh stuff stuff from opponent's student sections. Stuff WAY worse than making an "O" with your hands. To OU Fans' credit, no one bitched about Dials' post-game moves. It is all part of the game.To give you an idea regarding what the Zips are subjected to in Oxford, click on this thread from Bobcatattack.com. Scroll all the way to the bottom. When you see stuff like that in the stands, you sometimes feel the urge to make an "O" at game's end. If you dish out the smack, you need to be able to take it too.

I'm sure that kid knows what it's like to be a skinhead in Athens. Seems to have recovered from the beatings.
