ZachTheZip
I look foward to all of our JUCO's and transfers that become eligible to play this year. I know that JUCOs and transfers are usually a quick fix for this year only that should allow our past few top recruiting classes to mature, but they seem like they could be a step above our past talent levels and we may have a boatload of quality players and a deeper talent pool than we have ever had before. Blue & Gold
I think it all comes down to how Matt Rodgers plays at QB. I've given up on CJ. But what do I know?
RACER
if williams is switching to db that tells me that johnson must be a stud, and allen will play alott also.you are taking our only game breaker on defense.i hope jd know what he is doing.i saw high school film of johnson, and he out ran everyone.i think everyone is counting on rogers, but forgetting about allen and johnsonat thr rb spot.if we cannot run the ball we will be in trouble.i guess we will see in the spring game. ZippyAlum
I have heard that it is true that Williams is switching to defense. Spring ball is tough this year with snow days and spring break right in the middle. I hope we get to see something on April 5th but I'm not sure how "together" the team will be by then. gozips19
looks like spring ball is set to resume this week! here's some links from gozips.spring ballhere's the updated roster.....insert Da-Von Moore jokes as he's on the rosterrosterthings that stood out to me; ryan bain will live up to the hype. j.d. hardly ever singles out a player but has repeatedly done so with him. he also said that they are trying players at different pos and are looking at the secondary. translation b will at corner. nice to look at the roster, no glaring omissions and was pleasantly surprised to see Al-Teric Balaam back on the roster. and really glad to start to see some depth at all pos. ziptrumpet87
Is Igor's info correct? 6-2 265? I would believe 225, but 265?
Blue & Gold
Is Igor's info correct? 6-2 265? I would believe 225, but 265?I hope not!!! It also lists Sean Fobbs as a Senior. He's actually going to be a redshirt freshman. I also noticed it lists Andrew Johnson at 5-10, 215. That sounds more realistic that the 230 he was listed at earlier. There are but a handful of people IN THE WORLD who are as fast & quick as AJ and go 230. 215 is PLENTY!
gozips19
i'd guess typo as both igor and joe rash have the same #, height, and weight.
Zip Watcher
Is Igor's info correct? 6-2 265? I would believe 225, but 265?Janikowski isn't even 265 is he?I wonder about the "Fat Punter" of MAC legend .. maybe he was
johnnyzip84
I also doubt if Marquinn Davis is 285 LB either. If this were true, at 6'6" and 285 LB with the athleticism he displays on film, this guy would totally dominate as a rush DE. Come to think of it, he may totally dominate even if he's, say, 260! Does anyone have any scoop on his development?I agree that this team looks to have more depth than any in the D-1 era. I, for one, think the defense has a chance to be very, very good. The glaring exceptions are at QB and WR, but we all know the story there. Does anyone else think that Alphonso Owen might be able to step up and have a much better SR season, in spite of (or because of?) the host of new talent being brought in at that position? UA1987
Our receivers should be Jerome Royal, Jeremy Bruce, Deryn Browser, and maybe, David Harvey. I would not look to Williams, Fuqua, or Owen in 2008 as they were part of the problem on offense last year, along with the Offensive Coordinator. Our QB, CJ11, is not as bad as everyone thinks (not the best in the MAC, but good enough to win). Last year, Jacquemain was saddled with a new offense, and with one solid receiver. Defense's would double team Jabari and key on our running back. We needed more weapons or creative play calling to loosen up opposing defenses. One of the young QB's may step up this year, but if not, we will not sputter on offense because of our QB.
johnnyzip84
Not to disagreee or agree or whatever with anything that's been said on here, but I am wondering why there seems to be roughly ZERO news coming out of spring ball? Has anyone heard anything about anybody???

Captain Kangaroo
I also doubt if Marquinn Davis is 285 LB either.I've seen him. He's 285. He didn't play last year because he's fairly new to football (I think he only played 2 years of HS?). And, to go from Youngstown Rayen to UA is a pretty academic big leap. I know he made the Dean's List for the fall semester....so if his football progress is anything like his scholastic progress...he could have a significant impact this year. This guy has intrigued me from day one. If Bain has the motor that is advertized, there could be a lot of opportunity for a guy like Marquinn to make a name for himself.
