Bleacher Bum
It's always good to have the refs on your side once in a while. Also, anyone notice the comments about "classless" fans cheering when the ref was taken down? Their board looks an awful lot like ours... bUAkronG
here's a good one:That team had no one on the roster that could have stopped Jason or Tony one on one without cheating.lol.
Zip90
Funny. They are complaining about the play when the ref got knocked down, and they actually believe that the ref was going to make the call against Akron.Their player first committed a reach in to knock the ball away, then, dials had position on him (was basically boxing him out while trying to get the ball back), and their guy knocks dials over to get to the ball, and in the process takes out the ref, and they think the ref was going to call Akron for a foul? Too funny.
zvillezip
I think we all need to appreciate how special Nate Linhart's defensive ability is. He is a shut down defender. He has to be the favorite next year for defensive player of the year in the MAC. He was unbelievable last night. He gave everything he had and then some extra. He was totally gassed at the end which is why he missed free throws but his defense and Dials clutch shooting is what won the game. Oh yeah, I think this is the best game plan I have ever seen Dambrot utilize. The team defense against the pick-n-roll was incredible. They continually hedged the ball handler off his path and totally disrupted the offense. I look forward to another great game plan and effort against UMass. The two best defensive teams I have seen all year, in all of college basketball are Akron and Can't. I really respect Dambrot for not switching into a zone even though the announcers kept thinking he would. Akron's message to the big schools is this: "We are going to play you man-to-man and beat you, enough said!"
zen
One thing I noticed about Linhart last night was how he closes fast and hard on the basket for a rebound on the defensive end of the court. He seems like he fights for scraps down there.
Zip90
Speaking of playing against the "big" schools, did anyone notice the negativity towards their own team on the UMass board?Sounded to me like they were complaining about attendance, and thanking God that they had even made it as far as they have.Hopefully they will overlook Akron, and we can pull one off on them. meatwad
What did Dunn say? I'm really confused... I wasn't listening on the radio since it was on tv.

I thought they were in trouble when they blew that big 1st half lead, but they held it together and Dials was great in the OT. Good win for the MAC as a whole.UNLV is the next victim... Zips Supporter
That would be great if Can't knocked off UNLV, a team that went to the Sweet 16 a year ago. And I think they can do it. Funny thing though, UMass's coach Travis Ford (UK Alum) was complaining on ESPN yesterday morning on how they thought they should have made the NCAAs. He was crying about how they had a better record than 7 of the teams that were admitted to the tournament. They had to go through what we would go through, and that is the conference they are in takes a certain amount of bids. The A10 has their tournament winner and then 1 or sometimes 2 at large bids. Xavier and St. Joes made it, while Dayton and Temple to the NIT with them.

zff
As Frenchy and Dunn were going to a break before the post game show you could here Dunn say "Time to go back to the dorms boys". And when they came back from break they said the students were ready to fight Frenchy. So I am guessing Steve must have said something too. skip-zip
I did hear French mention that the fans were still down there talking, even long after the game was over. I wonder what really transpired.
