Wow, good luck to him, I hope Keith offered him alot to "walk on". You would think he would have offers somewhere else from his credentials to actually get some money.

It does raise some questions. Isn't Rydell Brooks around 6' 4"? Is he content to remain a walk on?A walk on from Wadsworth...or...Copley or wherever local is pretty common. To have one pay out of state tuition to come to UA seems to make me believe a scholarship is expected to open up due to a transfer or drop out. No one would pay that for too long.

I'm thinking that players just want to be around a winning program when it blows up. B) B) B)Reading the article, it sounds like he's spent time around the team / JAR in the summers. Maybe he has family in the area and spends the summer in Akron. Could be a local walk-on situation. Can't teach height.B) B) B)

I'm confused. The first link says he is 6'2". The second one claims he's 6'4". Whats the deal here? Either way, to lead his team in rebounding from that height when the second article suggests they had a lot more height on the team. Thats kind of impressive.
It definitely makes you wonder, Dambrot had to offer him something for him to come here. Maybe like a Dru Joyce thing, walk-on first year, but guaranteed scholarship next year. Also makes you wonder again, is everyone staying?

Wow! This program sure has made some major strides in a short period of time if they are getting Florida AA players of the year to come into the fold as preferred walk-ons! POYs in Florida usually end up at BCS type programs and on scholarship. On top of that, though, how many other D-1 schools must have been offering him scholarships if he is that highly touted? There's a bunch of mid-major D-1 schools in Florida alone that HAD to be interested. I agree that it does sound like he has some prior connection to Akron, but still this has be considered a major recruiting accomplishment to get him here on those terms.

Well .. we've gone from having the all time leading scorer in Colorado history on scholarship to a Florida AA POY as a walk on. I do suspect that's progress.FYI, I checked both rivals and scout, and there's nothing on Peterson .. so it's difficult to project which schools were interested in him.

Not to appear ignorant, but who is Brian?
Brian Wood was one member of one of the best backcourts in Zips history. In 2001-02 he started the MAC quarterfinal game at the Q against Bowling Green. At the time, that was the farthest any Zips team had advanced in the MAC tournament. His backcourt mate was an unheralded local kid from Benedictine named Rashon Brown.

Kyle Peterson just might not be the last preferred walk-on added to the team.I saw a young man today on campus who is a well known area HS basketball player.
It's a good thing you're only talking about basketball, GZ! If you left a teaser like that empty about, oh say.. a soccer recruit, half this board would be heading to Medina County to get the rest of the story. Hey -- it's not another Wadsworth player, is it -- I still say Goddard will be a starter next year! :D BTW -- ever seen Kofie Sardodie play? :P

Hey GoZips, Are you still alive?! Come out, come out where ever you are! It's been 2 weeks now! Who is the player you saw on campus? Bro, even if you aren't entirely sure that's okay, but don't just leave us hanging after a comment like that - especially in the slow months between b-ball & football!

I saw him on campus last week with his dad. I would guess that he is no taller than 6' 0'' most likely 5' 10"ish.
