  1. I like how they are approve alcohol where they are going to sit but not where the rest of us sit. If it's banned for some....it should be banned for all. Hypocrites.
  2. http://floridastate.rivals.com/forum.asp?s...61&fid=1080
  3. Good, now I can put some seahawk logo stickers on my Akron/Frye Jersey #5 and become a Seahawks fan.
  4. It has nothing to do with Charlie....I was a big Garcia fan. It has to with the Browns. Until they are able to protect the QB, you could plug in P Manning and he would struggle.
  5. I am a Browns fan but say this. Give the freaking idiot fans what they want! Start Quinn next week. I guarantee the same result.
  6. I think we've seen Charlie Frye's last start in a Cleveland Browns uniform. I love Charlie, but it's over. Hopefuly he can get out of Cleveland and land somewhere where he can get a fresh start.
  7. In order to win we need to establish a running game 2 total yards rushing ain't gonna cut it. OSU's LB's and DB's are cheating and will continue to do so until we start having some success running the ball
  8. Halftime thoughts.......great half by Zips D......Zips offense is having no success at all. The turnovers have heldped the D stay off the field. I'm not worried about fatigue on the Zips. OSU will come out in the 2nd half and really try and open it up. Look for them to try and use their speed to run more to the outside and less up the middle.Akron needs to establish some sort of running game. Unless we do, the defense is going to cheat on our recievers which will limit our success in the passing game.Field position will be crucial. I don't se our offense marching 80 yards for a score.
  9. Is there anywhere on the internet to listen to the Zips broadcast?
  10. LIistening to the game on the radio and it reminds me of the games I've attended at the shoe. Gotta admit the pre-game pagentry and hisory at OSU games is impressive.
  11. Off topic a bit.......but a friend of mine thought of a new slogan with a take off of the "fear the roo" campaign. How do you like..."Don't Anga' the Kanga"
  12. Anyone have any tickets for tonights game for sale. Decided to go up last minute. pm me.
  13. I bought my first Akron t-shirt at Porky's in 1993!
  14. Here's why I think he catches flack from the fans:1. Nick dials looks like he should be in the stands and not on the court. Fans think "who's this punk, he doesn't look like a D-1 Bball player?" So they give him a hard time.2. He's a pest on defense. This generally annoys opposing players and also fans.3. He kills opposing teams runs with 3's. He buries teams with 3's. He's just a good ballplayer.
  15. My observation of the replay lead me to believe that the trail official had an unobstructed view. It happened 5 feet in front of him. The baseline official may have had an obstructed view (a Can't player). I believe there was 41 seconds on the clock when the travel was called. It completely changed the complexity of the game. In the end...we both agree, should not have been called...very bad officiating. For this league to get better, we need to get better officials.
  16. This was the oddest call of the night. I can see calling a FOUL on a guy if you "suspect" there was contact (maybe your line of sight was blocked). But to call a travel when the video replay clearly shows no inkling of a travel and the ref had an unobstructed view of Linharts feet. I would like to know what this guy saw? Probably the worst call I have seen in a while. This guy needs to not ref another MAC game this year. The other issue I have with MAC officiating in general is how these nickel and dime calls really kill the flow of the game. Every time a good stretch of back and forth basketball starts.... we get a holding foul on a guard or an away from the ball foul. They're just not needed. It also puts the best players in foul trouble and in the case of Dru, puts a premier player out of the game in crunch time. Is this what the MAC wants.....its best players on the bench in an overtime game with two heated rivals for the MAC east championship? Does everyone remember the imfamous Chris Webber "timeout" call in 1993? When he got the ball, he clearly walked.....ref didn't call it. As it turns out Michigan was out of timeouts but the point of the matter is that the ref ignored the travel.....he was going to let the players decide the outcome of the game....not the guys in black and white. It's frustrating to watch. I would rather see a no-call than a bad call. I can say the calls were bad on both ends of the floor last night and it frustrated the hell out of me. The game is not about the guys in black and white....its about the players.....let em play.
  17. Same here. Dru looked a little slow with his passes last night.....several were interecepted. Dials needs to catch and dribble immediatly out of those traps. All players need to learn to stay away from the sidelines and corners when the opposing team is trapping. It seems like basketball 101 but they weren't playing it last night.
  18. everytime the game gets fun.....whistle!
  19. These refs are horrible...bad calls on both sides....completely killing the flow of the game!!!
  20. Want to know how to beat the Zips? Foul 'em! This game was much closer than it should have been. The next three practices better focus on free throw shooting.
  21. I posted that.......well sort of. My point at the time I posted it was, this loss is not the end of the world and was generally in response to the multitude of "we suck....its over" posts that were flying in. Miami plays a style of basketball that if executed properly enables them to have a chance to beat anyone on any given night regardless of the talent on the floor. This is the same team that we only beat by 2 AT HOME one month ago! Did we suck then too? This is one....I repeat.......one of the last 5 games (Miami (away),Duesquesne (away), BG, Can't (away), Buffalo (away)). If someone told you we'd end up 3-2 I think most of us would be happy. A road loss at Miami is maybe......I repeat......maybe the kick in the a$$ this team needs heading into the tourney. We lost this game becasue we didn't play Akron basketball, we didn't execute when it counted and we (as usual) tanked at the free throw line. The team needs to be reminded of that and losing a game where all of those factors contribute should really hit home. As a group, we fans on this site are more bi-polar than ever. We win, we get post after post of "we should be ranked".....we lose, we get post after post of "we suck or.....in Steve Frech fashion.....here we go again."My point is....lets see how this team reacts to this loss.....that will tell us where this team is heading into the tourney.
