JT has worked here for over 2 years now? Or somewhere around that. He's been interviewing since 2012, in a nutshell. If Dr Proenza and all thought he's ready, then maybe he was the candidate from the get-go, but I'm sure it had a little to do with his performance so far, no?

I think JT's greatest skills would be in the above traits, and it's hard to imagine the others having the success in those that he would. I think all the poo-pooing is sour grapes from the academia world that someone from outside their "circle" could get their prized job. Really, if he had a Ph D, no one would care. Would 3 extra years of schooling 30 years ago and 3 letters after his last name have any impact on who he is today?

To clear things up - an endowment isn't $20 mil they have to freely spend. They can spend the earnings on that principal amount. Say ~5% annually. That's $1M per year... It's not peanuts, but it's not like that's going to be the factor to push them over the edge.

I think Andy Toole would be a good hire. Hoping they bring in a nice coach, it's lame beating a bunch of bad teams.
