I'm 100% with Dr. Z. I'm also a little biased personally, as I don't want to drive an hour + to use my tickets to see us blow Coppin St. out of the water.
The Beer Market next to PNC is a fun place as well. BYO-Food Sienna Mercato downtown is a new, awesome place. Next to Dr. Z's recommendation of Tenpenny.
Not to pick on you, but that is pre-game of a Steeler game. The Steeler jerseys give it away I have Pitt season tix, I live closer to Pittsburgh, I won't discount the attendance problem. 4 coaches in 6 years and a bunch of 7 win seasons will do that. Now that the Pirates are good again, there's a lot of competition for ticket money. How do you feel about the rivalry being renewed anyway? No empty seats at that one!
Seriously though, knowing this is like knowing the home team bats last in baseball. It takes a special kind of stupid for a D-1 CAPTAIN or his coaching staff, whoever, to elect to "kick." Hence why you've seen a team do it once in the thousands of games played per year.
I think any player that's played for more than 4 years would, well, should know that. I was a coaches son, but I still remember learning that when I was 9.
Loser of the coin toss gets their choice at the half, unless the winner defers. So say you're playing Madden and choose kick, the other team receives at half. That's not true in real life. If you choose to kick, and not defer, the other team still gets their choice at the half. So our dingus head coach told the captains to kick, and low and behold we kicked both stinkin halves.
Promotions are sponsored so that doesn't hold much water. Somebody could have been contacting businesses to sponsor a bobblehead or something, doesn't take much creative genius there.
We've won 7 games in the last 3 years. We played Howard. Rack up some wins, there'll be nice crowds. NEO loves football, they'll come. Comparing to MBB is apples to oranges. They win in a dump, we lose in a palace. If the FB team starts winning MAC championships, then we can compare attendance.
I've been curious what the official plan was for Conner. He played DE as injuries forced it in the bowl, but I assumed they'd keep him away from that this year. They have a pretty decent stable of backs, so maybe it'll work out. Definitely not something you see much anymore.
Let me state again, this was not a criticism of UA, just a general comment on golf outings. The string and mulligan make outings not so fun. I'm sure there are other ways to get 20 bucks off of folks at outings (drinks/raffles/skins/skill prizes).
I agree. However #1 and #3 contradict each other. In terms of money raised I would assume the string and mulligans are a very miniscule percentage of money raised. Good for the program raising more money, but just saying my experience with outings that let you buy string and mulligans turn out to have a lot of bummed out people.
Todd Thomas is a beast. I'm curious how Pitt's D will end up looking however.. It was poor last year with perhaps one of the best seasons ever from a DT. Talk of James Connor (ran for 220+ in the Pizza Bowl) playing some DE. Will be interesting.
