WE are the ones who should be hosting not them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NCAA doesn't like the AK-Rowdies. At all. They're too aggressive and offensive. Same reason we had to go on the road last year. It's something that will continue until we can either put together a team that absolutely deserves a top-4 seed, or the student cheering section goes away. Screw the NCAA.

So this means Akron would be ranked last of all the 48 teams that got in since they play away and if they win they play the #1 seed. Whatever.

Actually it would be more like Akron was the 33rd seed (and Ohio State 32) since they wouldn't have the highest seeded from the first round play the top seed in the next.

According the match ups, Akron is seeded #33. Below are the seeds who are above Akron and didn't receive a bye (17-33) with RPI in parentheses.

17. UNCW (26)

18. Northwestern (22)

19. UAB (30)

20. St. Louis (25)

21. Oregon St. (28)

22. Dartmouth (27)

23. North Carolina (20)

24. Penn State (19)

25. Old Dominion (24)

26. Coastal Carolina (21)

27. UC Irvine (16)

28. Xavier (18)

29. Wake Forest (31)

30. Kentucky (32)

31. San Diego (55)

32. Ohio State (29)

33. Akron (23)

If you reshuffle this list based on RPI, here's what you get:

17. UC Irvine (16)

18. Xavier (18)

19. Penn State (19)

20. North Carolina (20)

21. Coastal Carolina (21)

22. Northwestern (22)

23. Akron (23)

24. Old Dominion (24)

25. St. Louis (25)

26. UNCW (26)

27. Dartmouth (27)

28. Oregon St. (28)

29. Ohio State (29)

30. UAB (30)

31. Wake Forest (31)

32. Kentucky (32)

33. San Diego (55)

In this scenario, The Zips would be 10 spots higher and host, based on location, Hartwick in the first round. They then would have either Syracuse or Charlotte in the 2nd round.

Chris, very good analysis.

It really looks like they tried to create a regional matchups rather than having the teams seeded correctly.

However...even with regional matchups....based on RPI....the Buckeyes need to be coming to Akron

and yes, Victor will not be able to play against the Buckeyes or the crying irish

This will be a very interesting 2 games for the staff to manage. Staying on the notion of the Laryea/Souto/Najem trinity, the absence of Souto or Laryea produced no wins, one tie and 3 losses. You don't even wants to even think about effect of no Najem.

Last game they went 4-4-2 in what might be preparation for these next 2 games ex Souto, as slipping Jesse G-A in or Sanda experiment sees MF pretty much go flat, and there follows the rest. MF driven scheme.

Maybe lately high minute Caso takes Souto's place and Cregan returns as CB? Doesn't seem like going smaller with Jesse G-A for Souto by himself works and the others that have tried minutes in there did not get much traction. Also allows Najem to get more forward as false 9 or diamond tip.

With 4 MF maybe they get after OSU in Ohio Ice Bowl and then comes ND at South Bend. Hodan and Besler. Laryea and Najem. You could say the away against OSU and then 1 seed ND is an insult and hobbles the team's chances, but where are they if they shuttle past OSU and go into ND and get 110% out of Saad and the MF is relentless and you put enough shots on a very big frame (or is it that Wal's range is limited?) and they get 2 goals and its enough? Then where are you sitting with Souto rolling back in at UVA? I like the odds!

RPI is King! Until the year when it isn't really.

The NCAA Selection Committees are owned by the B1G. #14 RPI Maryland gets the #4 seed while #4 RPI Providence gets the #11 seed. If they wanted a team in the east in the top 4 seeds, it certainly should have been Providence. If this was basketball, the media would be raising all kinds of hell over this bracket.

One game at a time; Zips have to beat tOSU first, but on the subject of Zips midfield, I think we have an additional concern. Richie Laryea is sitting on a total of 7 yellow cards. 1 more and he reaches the 8 for the post season and will be out another game. I would hate to face ND without Souto and Laryea.
