  1. Last time I checked, we are 8-3 in our last 11 games. We gave Michigan a scare when nobody thought we had a chance. We played right with Penn State and beat Pittsburgh. We have the most talented team that we have ever had and next year looks to be even better. We have Terry Bowden and Chuck Amato as coaches. We have the most beautiful stadium and facilities in the conference and they can stand up to almost anyone's in the country. My family and I have a blast every game tailgating in lot 9 with a small group of the best and most loyal fans that I wouldn't trade for any other group in the country. I tout these things to everyone I meet when the topic of college football pops up. For me, things are bright! I will continue to bring friends to meet the great people in lot 9. I have never brought anyone that didn't have a great time tailgating with them. Lord willing they get to follow that up by watching a fun product on the field. That is all that I can control as an alumni and fan and that is what I will continue to do. I will continue to put my faith in coach Bowden and staff because I believe that the sky is the limit for this program. This thread is completely depressing. All I hear is doom, gloom and defeatism. I want to put a different spin on this so people can see why we can truly be thankful! Many alumni and Akronites will eventually hop on board with continued success. It is their loss for the one's that don't. In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy the ride with coach Bowden and enjoy every gameday.

  2. Not one student ever dreams of growing up and going to Akron. Most survey the landscape and decide Akron is acceptable-- mainly for economical reasons. You are wrong on this point. I grew up going to the Rubber Bowl with my dad and to this day I still savor those fall nights (when they actually played night games) watching fireworks, bands, parades, skydivers, etc. I couldn't wait to go to Akron U and grow up and go to games on my own. Now that I have my own kids I want to take them ( little young yet almost 2 years old) but I cant wait for another couple years. I have 2 degrees from Akron (thinking about a third) and have had season tickets since 1987! I saw Alcorns Acme Zip winning 55 yard FG, I saw Leftwhich get carried down the field, I saw Pennington, Roethlisberger beat us (3 times), I saw Frye elude about 6 guys and throw a 45 yard TD pass, Ive watched Getsy to Hixon in person and I attended every Ianello debacle. So please, don't tell me not one student dreams of it. I did and I keep coming back!

  3. Can anyone explain to me why any team announces its starting lineup prior to any game? Wouldn't it be better to keep the opponent in the dark?

  5. I know the score differential wasn't as large, but the 2-1 win over Michigan in the 2010 College Cup semifinal on the way to the National Championship was huge! EDIT: If I remember correctly, this was in the same season as the 7-1 win. Not bad, 9-2 total vs UM that season.

  6. I missed this match. The last UA/UM game I saw...I think we won 7-1? Those bastards must really hate seeing an AKRON jersey.

  7. Thats odd. I was at the Marshall game and the student section was indeed exactly where Keener was claiming (I was in it). The University need to get it figured out. I'm tired of it changing every single year for football and basketball.
