  2. Lucked out again with an easy MAC schedule. Definitely need to make some hay while the sun shines in '15. No excuses.

  3. Sometimes the refs are wrong and can act like jerks. It is perfectly fine to point out their mistakes without making it personal. We have a very mild mannered member of this forum who was tossed out a game when a referee made an assumption that wasn't made based on the facts. Being second guessed by coaches and fans is part of the job and if you can't take it, you should consider a different career.

  4. It befuddles my mind that someone at the U is not savvy enough to facilitate some kind of deal between The U, Nike, McDonald's, Coca-Cola and LBJ (possible Gilbert) to put some kind of deal together that benefits everyone. It might actually have to be something that has never been done before. Never mind, it doesn't surprise me at all. They need to hire someone with some real experience to make something like this happen. I'm not talking about a fake hire like Tressel. I real hire. Current status is better/easier at making excuses rather than finding a unique solution. I would hope President Scarborough has an eye on this and cleans some house. Until then, I just expect more excuses.

  5. Dear Abby, Still trying to get over the trauma of my New Year's Day experience. The holidays should be a time of joy spent with family and friends but I am feeling left out. I got a chance to spend some time with my Uncle (BGSU grad), his son/my cousin (Akron grad), his wife (CMU grad) and my brother-in-law (Akron grad) which should have been a good time but I was the infidel elephant in the room not participating in their Big Ten lovefest while the MSU/Baylor game was on. I even tried to engage my cousin's wife in conversation about the Bahamas Bowl but she looked at me like I was speaking Martian. Am I the only MAC fan who feels this isolated from not only the mainstream but my own family? What should I do, Abby? Signed, Alone in Ashland

  6. Dear AiA, Perhaps you can take some solace in the words of Robert Frost: The Road Not TakenTwo roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

  9. Blue & Gold I know people on this board really hate the uniform roulette that is happening at the college level but I have to believe a lot of the Oregon love comes from their cool uniforms. I know there was a lot of discussion yesterday when they unveiled their Championship game uniforms and they were all white/silver....no green/yellow.

  10. The reality in college football recruiting is that it is more about players marketing themselves to coaches than it is about coaches looking for hidden talent. The recruiting sites are nothing more than entrepreneurs capitalizing on an opportunity. Almost every parent wants to give their kid the edge with recruiting and these guys all promise that. It is an easy sell, to some degree. Who wants to feel like they aren't doing everything they can to put their kid in the best position for the best offers? The truth is that recruiting coaches will generally look at the videos sent to them, whether its from a paid site or from the kid himself, posted to YouTube. Why on earth would a coach want to take the advice of a website that is acting as a paid advocate? Bowden addressed the lack of commits showing up on websites in his last press conference and said they already had 12 kids onto he roster already who counted towards the 2015 recruiting class. http://youtu.be/A3O0EpHJ63Q?t=22m28s Remember, the coaching staff cannot comment on high school commits until signing day, so unless we happen to pick up the story via a news source or Twitter, we don't know who has committed
