  1. Dunno. I'm counting how many bullshit posts from 3 anonymous blowhards who have 20, 27 & 83 posts.

  2. (Disclaimer: I am NOT saying this team cannot win the MAC, nor am I saying they cannot make an NCAA Tournament run this year.) Next year's Zips team is shaking out to be potentially a really special group. Our last two shots at making an NCAA Tournament run have been hijacked - once by Doug Penno, the second time by off-court issues. Is it possible the third time is the charm? We'll have a nice group of big men. Pat Forsythe will anchor the team down low as a senior, with Isaiah Johnson hopefully getting into better shape and continuing to develop. Kwan Cheatham has the potential to be the team's best player (he reminds me of a better version of Chris McKnight). While they may redshirt, Peter Agba and Emmanuel Olojapoke could contribute as true freshmen if needed. We'll have a nice group of wings. BJ Gladden continues to look better and better and could start. Jake Kretzer will contribute "the little things" and provide outside shooting, as will Regiie McAdams. Aaron Jackson will bring a ton of energy and athleticism and could end up starting as well, although Dambrot might prefer to use him as a spark Quincy Diggs-style. The backcourt is what I'm most excited about. Robotham will continue to grow this season and could pair with Josh Williams, a Mr. Ohio Basketball candidate, to form the most dynamic backcourt in the conference. Antino Jackson will continue to get better and hopefully add a bit more bulk, and we'll get to see what Jimond Ivy can do. Overall, this team will be able to do a little bit of everything. I think they're good enough to make a run this year. I think they'l be good enough to dominate the MAC next year. It could be opportunity #3 to finally get that elusive NCAA Tournament run.

  3. It is weird looking at Ohio University being winless in the MAC when only 3 years ago they went to the sweet 16 and were a jump shot away from defeating No. 1 ranked North Carolina. (And we were a Brien Walsh jump shot from beating OU in the MAC finals) Since then John Groce moved on to the fighting Illinois, Jim Christian then takes over and stays for 2 years and moves to Boston College. Ohio University is on their 3rd coach in 4 years. Not a recipe for success. Makes me appreciate the stability we have in our program with KD. He certainly has done a great job this year with all the turmoil in our program with Harney, Tree and Alex.

  4. I guess another way to look at it is this. The fees are in essence a special purpose tax on a specific activity-- kind of like taxing cigarettes. But instead of dissuading an activity that costs society-- a sin tax-- this is actually a tax on one of the most productive things society can encourage which is getting a college degree. $60M a year, growing each year in an effort to stay "in the game"...that is a large chunk of money in an economy the size of NEO. BTW, think about what $60M would fund if it were servicing debt-- you could fund billions of dollars in long-lasting capital improvements. I'm just saying this level of subsidy is forcing kids who are trying to do the best thing for themselves, and by extension the community, to shoulder a large extra burden in pursuit of what appears to be an increasingly evanescent dream. How much is too much? Is a competitive MAC football team worth $1 billion in investment over 20 years? $500 million? $100 million? UA has probably invested something like $130 million on football since the jump to 1A. To what end? Even if we were in the position of dominating our conference, which clearly we are not, what would that be yielding for us as the MAC goes from irrelevant to whatever is beyond irrelevant. There is no reason to believe that more the same will yield a different result. And there is strong reason to believe that more of the same may not even be possible as costs explode (which they will as the new playoff increases funding to power schools and direct payments to athletes happen). It just seems like we are at a point in time when we need to think radically different.

  5. Newcomers Get First Taste of Full MNT Camp Day“Oscar and Dennis play hip-hop music, I’m not too sure exactly who it was. We typically change it every day with different guys taking control. I listen to everything from country to house music. I’m driving the van, but I’m open to anything really.” – Perry Kitchen, defender “We had three different tests; the vertical, the 30-yard dash and the shuffle sprints. It wasn’t too bad. The first session wasn’t too demanding physically, [the coaches] were just trying to get the [base] numbers. The second session with the beep test, that was definitely a lot more fitness for the coaches to see where we are at physically.” - Dillon Serna, midfielder “We started off and had the beep test and guys did really well. I thought we worked really hard. We jumped right into a passing drill after and kind of worked the soccer side after getting a little fatigued. It makes it a little more game realistic because in games it’s going to be difficult, especially at the international level, so getting your touch down when you’re tired is massively important.” - Wil Trapp, midfielder

  6. Seems like a pretty good one. BTW, the Pitt game you mention, I think I remember somebody getting benched in that game after a red zone INT.

  7. Darlington Nagbe: A Special Talent with U.S. Aspirations Last December, Nagbe married his college sweetheart and the two are expecting their first child next year. Under U.S. immigration laws, Nagbe will be eligible for American citizenship after three years of marriage (December 15, 2015) provided that he continues to meet residency requirements. “It will mean a lot,” Nagbe said of obtaining his U.S. citizenship in 25 months. “Personally, for my mom, because she moved here so we could get our citizenship and get a great education. Soccer-wise it will make me eligible to play for the United States national team. That’d be great to potentially have a chance to play for them."
