Oh I'm well aware of the legend of the coming apocalypse where the forces of the ultra super neo libs are destined to face off against the forces of the ultra super neo cons in the final battle for the salvation of the universe. It is writ that it will take place in the holy city of Cowlumbus where billions of flaming buckeyes will rain from the heavens and consume the heathens in the very fires of purgatory. Salvation shall come only for rational moderates who keep faith with the best from the right heavens and the left heavens while rejecting the extremes from both as the work of the devil.
It's in the OT portion of the forum...and pertains to the conference that we are in, so I don't see the problem. These are important conversations to have, because it does impact parts of Zipsnation, and our conference (agree or disagree with it) has taken a stance on it. But I'll refrain from posting on this issue anymore.
There are many thousands of different religions and subsets of religions, and many millions of different interpretations of various aspects of those religions. It would be utter chaos if every business claiming any remote religious connection was free to refuse service to any class of people they happened to believe conflicted with their religious beliefs in any way. The reasonable solution is that any business open to the public should be prohibited by law from discriminating for religious reasons against any targeted group of legitimate citizens. Separation of church and business is just as valid as separation of church and state. Religion should be a private matter between each individual and whoever they believe to be their maker.
The tissue at hand: Portland's Caleb Porter sheds light on postgame incident with FC Dallas' Oscar Pareja http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2015/04/05/watch-oscar-pareja-and-caleb-porter-exchange-words-after-final-whistle#ooid=00cHBjdDoQly_k8_OyejLYLhjzQH1IX_ "I walked over to shake his hand and he had a tissue that he put over his nose and tried to hand me a tissue," Timbers head coach Caleb Porter said in the postgame press conference. "So I thought it was very poor sportsmanship out of him [Pareja]. I never said one word to him the whole game and he obviously wasn't happy with the loss. "But I've never had a coach come up and disrespect me like that. So that's what happened." No word yet on Pareja's version of the events. EDIT: Not sure you have to read lips to figure out what Caleb is saying as he points to the scoreboard (3-1 Timbers), grabs the tissue, tosses it and walks on.
Just a note here. That article takes up about 2/3 of a page in the sports section today. I was floored. I can't remember ever seeing that in regards to Spring practice. Heck, it's more than I have ever seen for most games.
Let me take that a step further. It's not just student sections. EVERY section in which they would want these things to happen would likely have to fully contain willing and active participants. The "Two Standers" better get their leg muscles in shape this summer
Do you really think that all those coordinated cheers and dancing we saw in those vidoes for the Maryland students just happened spontaneously? It takes someone to make those kind of things happen. I think this is a great idea.
Down 2, the "9" were still attacking as well as defending. Should have had a PK on a flagrant (obvious to everyone except the ref who a short while afterward "lost" a contact lens) handball in the penalty area. Zips also had a number of other good chances. Most of the last 15 minutes seemed to be a barrage of Carinals attempts at goal, but the "9" Zips' defense was outstanding. Very impressive work by the "9" (not actually 9 since there were subs). Also impressive Richie Laryea's goal when the Zips were down 1 man. EDIT: Someone behind me commented the Zips must be so agressive because Lolla used to be our coach and he's been so successful at Louisville. I turned around and said absolutely not. The Zips won a National Championship after he left. How many has Louisville won in his 9 seasons here?
