  4. What a difference from a few years ago. People are up here complaining about winning.

  5. A successful passing game is the only way we would keep them honest and be able to run consistently. Taking that away in the name of ball control will only make us easy to defend against and we won't score the points needed to win. Our defense needs to slow them down as much as possible but they will score some points. Like it or not, it will be a shootout type of game, the only chance we have at beating them.

  6. I don't remember there being any blatant drops like we have seen in the past. Bear in mind, we ran the ball 53 times, several scores were short drives due to big pass plays, and TW did not play in the 4th quarter. Of other note, Woodson was sacked only once, on them first drive. He was not only able to avoid other sacks but able to throw some very good passes under pursuit. He also was 11-69 rushing. We averaged 10.1 yards per pass completion.

  7. Welcome to the board...but you cannot be serious with your Pohl comments. Woodson is more along the style of QB we had with DW13. But it all depends on what you mean by "next coming". Next coming of Kyle Pohl? No. Next Coming of Heisman? No. Next Coming of a DW13? Than yes...yes I would be willing to stand behind that. Who was the last QB to throw 4 TD passes against an FBS opponent? (Hint, it's not KP16) TW13 is the man going forward, not Pohl. Especially since he has 2 more seasons here.

  8. Ball control ...... in both losses, Memphis and Tennessee won the T.O.P. BGU runs an average of about 85 plays per game (91 yesterday) and capitalize on the tempo well. We have to control the clock and keep their offense off the field AND keep our front 7 as rested as possible. As promising as yesterday was, I just don't think we can run up and down the field with these guys. They certainly have given up their share of points in every game ..... I would agree with LZIp to a point, but am sorry to say, I think it will cost us to get in a shootout. Our offensive line HAS GOT TO play their best game ever !!! I believe we should focus on 4 yards per carry, and about 6-8 completions to the TE/Hback and slot guys in the flats, 4-6 passes in the flats to the RB's anf more intermediate over the middle passes. I also think that the longer opportunities to Lane will present themselves a few times but Milwee has got to set those opportunities up first....... I would consider using a huddle and every second of the play clock.... This game is in no way comparable to the EMU game IMO The clock is our twelfth man this week IMO, if we can game plan with it in the offense. Tennessee put up 399 yards on the ground and 6 scores (205 in the air)..... and scored 59 total Memphis was opposite but has a totally legit QB and ran 16 more plays (about 18% more) This would a beyond huge victory !!!

  9. On the webstream, Souders YC looked head to head, no elbow. Very aggressive and tough, but not dirty. Andrew was a bit late on the tackle. Yellow was warranted. Straight red would have been egregiously harsh. I thought Buffalo's PK was a soft call, as was Zips' second PK. ***************** We are in October now. Zips should convert every single chance from the spot - for the rest of the year. Seriously. How many have we missed this year? ALL PKs should be converted, on every level, every league, every age group, every country. Obstacles are purely psychological. Players routinely accomplish much more difficult tasks than striking a stationary ball from the hash mark. Were Akron historically better at PKs, Zips might have 4 stars on our shirts intead of only one (2005, 2009, 2012). This PK discussion (I am currently having with myself) almost justifies a dedicated thread.

  10. Who's up for a Zips Nation bet (think Cheers - style poster board) for how tall Mario Collins will be the next time he stops by? I've got 6-2.
