  2. MTB and Newman Williams were both in. They were switching back and forth playing the H/TE back (off the line of scrimmage), blocking for a QB that threw for over 400 yards, and a running back that ran for over 100 yards. Below is MTB coming in, and Newman checking out.

  3. Madison on gameday is more of a bar-turned-into-outdoor-beer-garden scene. Camp Randall parking is mostly in the neighborhoods surrounding the stadium, and while there are some people who are tailgating in the neighborhoods - I assume hosted by the people who live there - most of the pageantry is at the bars. If you've never been to Madison and may never visit again, there are some things you might want to do. There is a whole board on the Wisconsin scout site devoted to tailgating and visiting Madison http://www.scout.com/college/wisconsin/forums/2562-tailgating. The pinned topic at the top is a good start. Watch out for a bit of foul language and taunting on the Brees Terrace side of Camp Randall - it's a big college house party scene, and the taunting is actually meant to be good-natured, but not everyone knows that going in, I wouldn't really expect much animus for this game, however, but it's happened before.

  5. The interim president, Matt Wilson was walking around the tailgate (Lot 9) introducing his family, thanking fans for coming, and conversing with anyone who wanted Saturday. He stopped by our setup and chatted for ten minutes. Matt seems like a genuine guy. I'm rooting for him. He was on the sidelines during the game doing the same. photo from pd article

  6. Ok, people. If there is good weather for the Appalachian State game, I fully expect lot 9 to be completely full, since passes are open to everyone now. I have a couple of questions/comments about the decision to sell passes at the street. . . I tried to purchase an additional parking pass when I re-upped my tickets and was unsuccessful. I tried to make an additional $100 Z-Fund donation and pay another $50 for the pass. No deal. The reasoning behind this was a Lot 9 pass comes with Priority Reserved Seats and there are more PRS than Lot 9 parking spots so. . .no can do. At what point then, was it decided that no type of last-minute PRS buying frenzy was going to take place and that day passes would be sold? At that point, it would have been nice for the University to announce something on gozips.com or to let one of our moderators here know so that people could make some tailgating plans for the season opener. Purchasing Lot 9 passes the "old-fashioned way" costs at the minimum $150 for 6 home games. Of course, 2 of these games are on weeknights which basically kills any type of tailgating for anyone that doesn't want to burn 2 days of vacation. Buy your passes at the gate for $20 a pop for the 4 tailgate conducive home games and you've got $80 invested. Sounds like a helluva deal to me. I am having a hard time making any sense of the parking situation over the last 8 years. I am glad UA made the decision to get more people into Lot 9 via the day pass, but without any promotion of the decision, it's likely a moot point. The delusions of $2500 donors coming out of the woodwork to fill up Lot 9 were pipedreams to nth degree. UA would likely be dollars ahead by now if they had just opened up the Lot for $20 day passes from the get-go and tried to get more people hooked on the experience. The world will never know. I am hopeful that people will show up to tailgate for the rest of the season now that it is open. If the Lot remains at far less than capacity, this experiment may be a one-and-done proposition. The tailgate on Saturday was one of the best ones we've ever had. The weather was fantastic and the food and beverages were top notch. The A.D. and the Interim President came through to talk to the die-hards, which was very nice. I hope there will be more of us there on the 24th if and when they decide to stroll through. Go Zips!

  7. I love the money games. It gives our program a chance to play on a national stage, which i guarantee our players love, and the chance to grow interest as well as help pay the bills.

  8. I don't post here often but I do read frequently. I am a Zip grad in the class of 1993. I have watched a lot of Zip football since 1989. I understand everyone was frustrated by the penalties and defensive problems. I know that Amato and Bowden will fix the penalties and field discipline problems. The defense has talent and Gilbert was everywhere. Amato will have a better scheme for future games. He kept it simple for this one. As for the offense, all I can say is Wow. There is so much talent on this side of the ball. This is the most talent I have ever seen for the Zips. Ball is a beast and should have received more carries IMO. Woodson was awesome and the receivers are incredibly fast, big, and athletic. This will be a fun team to watch this year. Wisconsin is probably too good to beat but we surely have the ability to challenge them.

  9. I think the Badgers defense will see better play from this weeks QB, than they did last week.

  12. Unbelievable. How many people in Akron Ohio are going to subscribe to the PAC-12 Network as part of their tv package?
