Typical Zipsnation.org. One loss, ONE to a ranked team and everyone starts calling for Bowden's head.
Objectively: Bowden is the best coach that Akron has EVER had. most D-1A wins ever in a season. Only bowl win, is his. Turned around recruiting of local kids. Like seriously? Losing to a ranked team and you're throwing him under the bus. Hell, everyone reacted this same way when we got blown out at Oklahoma last year, and we it was the best season the program has ever had. They made me eat my words for trash talking, but I'm not going to start trashing the team. I'm kinda regretting coming back to the forum.
Everyone needs to relax.
It is officially a rout.
BUT, the good thing I take away from this loss is:
I think we can compete very well in the MAC. The MAC just does not have the athletes that Wisconsin has this year.
Thanks for stopping by this week. We got a lot more discussion than usual. I'd guess you were Bernie Kosar, but I'm pretty sure his daughter is a porn star and not a soccer player.
Early on in the season, the zips are not getting much help down the road for RPI. Ohio State and Georgetown and VCU all started their seasons 0-4. Penn State and SMU also seem to be having seasons below their expectations. There are still many undefeated MAC teams but Buffalo and BGSU are not playing tough schedules. St. Mary's, CA had tied Stanford earlier in the year so Western Michigan's 2-0 win over St.Mary's CA is a quality win for a MAC team.

I never quite understood this point of view by out of staters. People typically regurgitate a popular opinion is so that should not suprise me. I moved to Akron a few years ago after being in the Marines. Lived in coastal NC and Florida but I found I like the Akron area more than those places (gasp!). I admit Im an outdoorsy type and I found having a national park within 15 minutes, state park 5 minutes away and about 10000 acres of wooded city parks a pleasant surprise. Getting a UA degree and a good job here was a plus too. Go Zips!
