You do realize this is the Penn State thread, right?
Certainly, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I really do not agree with your assessment of this roady at all. First of all, it is located right square in the middle of B.F.E. There is literally nothing to do in these hick towns that surround the place. The closest hotel room we could get worth staying in last time was in Clearfield. Denny's Beer Barrel Pub was a nice place to get a burger and a couple of draft craft brews but more of a restaurant than a bar. You can only sit there so long. We asked the question at Denny's where the closest sports bar was. . .we were sent to "Legends Sports Bar & Grill". We punch in the address into the GPS and it takes us into a residential area where we see the so-called sports bar. It's in the downstairs of a house. So we walk in and have a seat. The barmaid comes around and ZipsWin! asks for a beer list. "We don't have a beer list but we've got anything you want." ZipsWin! presses her and she says with a labored sigh the draft list, "Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light, Miller Lite, Yuengling and Shock Top". I s.hit you not.
We wind up at another hole in the wall bar downtown and finally decide to go back to Denny's for some carry-out beer (Pennsylvania beer laws ). We go back to the hotel and drink on the back patio until they turned the lights out on us and told us to go to our rooms. Had a nice conversation with a young lady from Georgia (not the one that borders Florida), before we were given the bum's rush though.
We only had a few more sips in the room before hitting the sack because we had to get up before dawn to continue the rest of the trek to B.F.E.
It literally takes forever to get to Happy Valley and it's not the most enjoyable drive. When we finally got there, we flashed our pre-paid Beaver Stadium Parking Pass. I'm looking at it as I speak. Audit# 07440. That pass was good for one parking spot. In a horse arena. Once again, I s.hit you not. Our group had a fun time in and amongst ourselves like we always do, but I found the fanbase to be awfully cocky and superior acting for the slice of humble pie they had been recently served. There was certainly no shame in their game! We were even asked in a very insulting way what a "Zip even was, anyway?" and the response was classic, not suitable for print on this fine forum and clearly struck a nerve with the drunken redneck Nit that asked it.
I found the in game experience to be sterile and unexciting, much like their white & blue uniforms and black shoes.
After the disappointing loss, we wound up at Otto's which was a great little brewery with decent beer and fantastic food. After a quick sup, we made the grueling journey back to civilization.
That reminds me. . .
What are the best two things to ever come out of Pennsylvania?
I-80 & I-76 West.
Mark me down for return trips to Wisconsin, Tennessee, Michigan, Pittsburgh or any other roady I've taken to watch the Zips but Penn State? No, thank you. Been there and done that.
