  1. Victor's goal was #2 on sports center last night. This hard working young man deserves all of the success that he has achieved.

  2. Kostelac, Formerly of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, to Attend Akron – By Nate Barnes, The News-Herald – full article found here – .... a foot fracture, which required the insertion of a four-inch screw to heal properly, cost him valuable recruiting time in the summer of 2015. While he had interest from West Virginia, Dayton, Cleveland State, Kent State and other schools, Kostelac was advised by some of those coaches a postgraduate season would properly ready him for the college game. ... he knows what seemingly everyone says about the players IMG sends to the next level is true. “They’re gigantic steps ahead of everyone else on the freshman level,” Kostelac said. “They gave us the right habits and taught us how to take care of our body and prolong our career and all that stuff, then just how to work with or without a coach in the gym.” Kostelac is ahead in the classroom, too. He attended classes at South Florida and already has a semester’s worth of college credit completed. ...“I really think this next year or the year after that you’ll see us in the tournament,” Kostelac said. “That’s for sure. I want to win the MAC, and I don’t know the guys real well because it’s all new to me, but it’s really a great group. Really talented, athletic. I don’t see a reason we shouldn’t make it.”

  6. I know this is preaching to the choir here, and I don't know where else to post this, but anyway...I'm travelling this week on business and I'm in the ice capitol of the world, Buffalo. The town has three pro teams, multiple high school teams, and a newspaper about the size of the ABJ. Low and behold, I picked up the morning paper yesterday at breakfast and there was an article on the U at B tennis teams! Two artlicles, one on the mens team and one on the womens team. And an additional article on the Buffs that made the NFL draft. And an article on the softball team was in today's morning paper. All in the same sports section that had articles on the Bills recent draft, NHL games, local high school games, etc. I kept rubbing my eyes, thinking how it would be nice to see just ONE article on a Zips team a week, let alone multiple ones each day! This story plays out for me every week. I'm travelling for business almost every week, and many times I'm in a college or university town for the evening,, and I see coverage EVERY DAY in the local paper about whatever sports the local U or C is involved in. Oh yeah, to make matters worse, the local Fox affiliate here in Buffalo ran a story last night about the UB softball team! Just needed to vent....thanks for listening....GT, you listening?

  10. You do realize this is the Penn State thread, right? Certainly, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I really do not agree with your assessment of this roady at all. First of all, it is located right square in the middle of B.F.E. There is literally nothing to do in these hick towns that surround the place. The closest hotel room we could get worth staying in last time was in Clearfield. Denny's Beer Barrel Pub was a nice place to get a burger and a couple of draft craft brews but more of a restaurant than a bar. You can only sit there so long. We asked the question at Denny's where the closest sports bar was. . .we were sent to "Legends Sports Bar & Grill". We punch in the address into the GPS and it takes us into a residential area where we see the so-called sports bar. It's in the downstairs of a house. So we walk in and have a seat. The barmaid comes around and ZipsWin! asks for a beer list. "We don't have a beer list but we've got anything you want." ZipsWin! presses her and she says with a labored sigh the draft list, "Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light, Miller Lite, Yuengling and Shock Top". I s.hit you not. We wind up at another hole in the wall bar downtown and finally decide to go back to Denny's for some carry-out beer (Pennsylvania beer laws ). We go back to the hotel and drink on the back patio until they turned the lights out on us and told us to go to our rooms. Had a nice conversation with a young lady from Georgia (not the one that borders Florida), before we were given the bum's rush though. We only had a few more sips in the room before hitting the sack because we had to get up before dawn to continue the rest of the trek to B.F.E. It literally takes forever to get to Happy Valley and it's not the most enjoyable drive. When we finally got there, we flashed our pre-paid Beaver Stadium Parking Pass. I'm looking at it as I speak. Audit# 07440. That pass was good for one parking spot. In a horse arena. Once again, I s.hit you not. Our group had a fun time in and amongst ourselves like we always do, but I found the fanbase to be awfully cocky and superior acting for the slice of humble pie they had been recently served. There was certainly no shame in their game! We were even asked in a very insulting way what a "Zip even was, anyway?" and the response was classic, not suitable for print on this fine forum and clearly struck a nerve with the drunken redneck Nit that asked it. I found the in game experience to be sterile and unexciting, much like their white & blue uniforms and black shoes. After the disappointing loss, we wound up at Otto's which was a great little brewery with decent beer and fantastic food. After a quick sup, we made the grueling journey back to civilization. That reminds me. . . What are the best two things to ever come out of Pennsylvania? I-80 & I-76 West. Mark me down for return trips to Wisconsin, Tennessee, Michigan, Pittsburgh or any other roady I've taken to watch the Zips but Penn State? No, thank you. Been there and done that.
