  1. Hey 32! Look forward to meeting you. Santa Barbara's gotta be warmer than Oregon in December. Best I can offer you is advice that there are a few motels in the area that run less than $100/night. The Sandpiper on State St. outside downtown SB is maybe the cheapest ( I recall seeing it at around 70). Also, check out UCSB's tournament site, because they have student discounts on tickets, and I believe also on hotels. Go Zips! Hey! Actually I'm in school working on my doctorate in Phoenix, so it might be about the same or cooler. I also have a final that Monday afternoon, so it would be an interesting speedy drive back to get there in time. LOL. Still trying to figure out if I can wing it, but it would be amazing to go.
  2. I'm looking at driving out to Santa Barbara to check out the games (10 hour drive for me). Being a poor college student I'm hoping someone would like to split hotel costs (at a reasonable to cheap hotel) for friday, saturday, and sunday. Really that's the biggest cost that would prohibit me from going.
  3. Ok, how about the men's soccer athletes. They don't all get full rides and they're a national contender in the most popular sport in the world. That's more than just running on a treadmill.
  4. Penis envy? I love penis! It's more of a massive eye roll that you guys pity the poor football player who actually has to pay tuition AND cover his own living expenses. I mean, god forbid they don't get everything handed to them. Because of Title IX the other male teams get less scholarship money than even their female counter parts. Many of the non-football male athletes have to do the same. So why don't you guys pity the track athletes too? And don't give me that crap about football being the biggest money maker, cause it's also the program that is the furthest in the red.
  5. Especially given the fact that Harris wouldn't give him a release, which meant Akron had to wait a year to give him a scholarship. This forced him to pay out of state tuition in his first year here when he was sitting out and running the scout team, not to mention he had to cover his own living expenses. I don't know, but if a guy set me back 20k just because he wanted to be a dick, I'd have some "hard feelings". Welcome to the life of the other 80-90% of student athletes.
  6. Sounds kind of like a stadium I used to know in Akron . . . HA! there are no mountains in Akron silly...
  7. Bullshit...if they were the best, they'd be playing tonight. Them being a bad matchup for Akron doesn't make them the best team in the conference (EMU was a bad matchup for UA too, doesn't mean they're the best either.)+1 I will never willingly support them.
  8. Exactly, and those who fall into that trap aren't mentally strong enough to be champions yet. Shooting is 99% mental, but what percentage of training is really dedicated specifically to mental work compared to physical techniques?
  9. Sarah finishes with a 579. Not good, and definitely not good enough to make finals (unless for some reason everyone gets DQ'd)
  10. (UPDATED)Here is where we stand from perfect going down the line:Stankey, Mississippi = -5 (Done)Jeffries, Nebraska = -24Kim, Nebraska = -14Lankes, Navy = -10Wang, Navy = -21Csenge, Kentucky = -14 (Done)Settlemires, Kentucky = -13Kulbacki, WVU, -16 (Done)Lamson, WVU = -13 (Done)Bures, Alaska = -20Rutter, Alaska = -10Morrissey, TCU = -10 (Done)Lorenzen, TCU = -6Buck, Army = -8Carr, Army = -26 (Done)Barber, Murray = -18Sojka, Murray = -20 (Done)Benjamin, Akron = -14
  11. sarah has to shoot 21 10's to even tie with Morrissey... with how she's shot thus far, I don't see her getting into the finals. I could be wrong, but there is a whole 'nother relay too.
  12. Bures = -13And you have to take into account how many shots they have to go. Stankey is down three with only 16 shots to go.Are you extrapolating this? Regardless, it is misleading, which is why a plot would be helpful. Sarah is on a run, she dropped 4 on her last card and is cleaning this card.Yep. I don't take into account turn arounds, and assume they will continue with the status quo. 590 from Morrissey. VERY respectable score.
  13. Bures = -13And you have to take into account how many shots they have to go. Stankey is down three with only 16 shots to go.
  14. Sarah down 7 and not even half way through the match. Better get it going or she won't see the finals.
  15. The live match results aren't so live. Guess you have to rely on math to get you by in your estimation.
  16. Stankey is hot! I feel for Bures, I coached him one summer when I was working with the CMP. He can't be taking this well. Carr is working back into it. Lanks, Lorenzen, and Rutter only dropping one so far. Depending on how Bures fares, I think TCU might take home the team trophy. They're VERY good this year.
  17. The winner going into the final will only drop 10 points or less (score 590 or higher). To have a shot at over taking the leader in the final, one would have to be within a point or two, unless leader does major choking in the final.
  18. Stankey from Ole Miss cleans first target, Bures from Alaska is choking. Carr from Army and Wang from Navy not doing too hot either.
  19. It's off and on for me. This is the first air relay; TCU is a time zone behind us.
  20. Looks like a lot of people are using a Feinwerkbau. I'm more of an Anschutz girl myself.
