  1. it could be that the last view games have conflicted with soccer games, which is what the photographer was covering. i don't know, that's just a guess.
  2. Oh no sorry let me clarify...they weren't exactly Tulsa fans. They were St V graduates that were friends of Joe Salem, they were very obnoxious and spilling beer on me and people around me (including my 14 year old cousin and his friend who came with him). This was along with them shouting things far more profane than any Rowdies were yelling with many children in the general area.Oh yeah and there were about 10+ of them. They were right next to me too. There were some people who had camping chairs there set up from when the gates opened. They had been sitting there most of pregame and got up to go get some concessions stuff. Those fans (mostly girls) some how weaseled their way in front of the chairs and stood there. I mean the people who had the chairs had them up to the line, and had they been sitting there they fans would have had no place to go. By doing that they also were blocking a 9 year old's view and told his mom to move if she didn't like it. She was there WAY before this group butted in. At half time the owners of the chair were able to take their seats back, but those joe salem fans were obnoxious and rude.
  3. all I know is GO DUCKS!!!
  4. The a**hole stood blocking our view of the goal THE ENTIRE FIRST HALF. I was pissed, and it's not like I could easily up and move.
  5. ncaa rules
  6. I sat on the grass sideline and it was a BE-AU-TI-FUL goal by Kofi. Meves was amazing in the last 20:00. #14 on Tulsa was as dirty as any Can't player (if they played soccer). I want to know how many fouls in addition to his yellow were called against him. Porter got a yellow at half time. He was speaking intently with the ref and the ref carded him before he went to go speak to the team. Did anyone else see that? No one around me because they were all chatting and getting snacks.
  7. I'm going to say 3-0, which is a thorough ass kicking, but for the first time students will have the ability to harass the goalie on both ends of the field.
  8. From the Akron Beacon Journal
  9. I'm graduating (again) on the 12th, so no go for me. Hopefully they'll televise the games or something.
  10. the email stated they are removing the fence temporarily, so the view shouldn't be any worse than behind the other goal... just from bleachers.
  11. I'm actually kind of surprised no one has given me flack for posting a blown up picture of a man's crotch on a mostly-male sports fan board but that really was the only one I could find...
  12. I'm getting an error message from ZN when I click the link.
  13. I don't care too much for the big "O" either, but the fight song pinstripes are original and bad ass.here's one close up I found. You can kind of tell the stripes aren't just lines.
  14. Good. He may be the most amazing football strength and conditioning coach, but my only experience with him has been from the stand point that I am a lowly and unimportant athlete from one of those "non-revenue" sports and I should feel privileged that I was even allowed to set foot in his weight room. His staff did more harm than good to me.Well... you were privileged to be using that facility. Believe me those who donated to get that thing built didn't do it for the rifle team. The bottom line is the strength and conditioning staff's primary responsibilities are to the football, basketball, baseball and softball, Track and Field, and soccer teams. When I was at Akron, Dan Bailey handled the football and baseball teams and another coach was responsible for basketball with Bailey overseeing it. If you can find ONE football player who has trained under Bailey that didn't think he did an outstanding job, any of you might have a point. I guarantee you Dan Bailey was not the problem this year. One thing I heard from some of my teammates who were still around for the early Brookhart years was that JD came in and made Bailey change a lot of what he was doing, and the result was not positive. Guys in the Brookhart era were smaller and more easily injured, and that was a direct result of changes JD ordered. The Owens years might not have had the most talented guys, but do you remember those offensive lines we used to have that would absolutely MAUL you? Guys like Piccirillo, Jud Cummins, Mike Brake, and the like? Those were a direct result of Dan Bailey Stength Conditioning back when he was allowed to do it his way. Walk-ons like Ryan Myers were developed into NFL players. Guys like Chase Blackburn came into the program at 200 pounds and left looking like the incredible hulk, and they would all credit that to Dan Bailey. We never saw guys develop like that under JD, and its because he made Bailey tone down a lot of what he was doing and changed a lot of the summer program and schedules, which really put a clamp on what Bailey could do. He's as much a victim of JD's incompetence as his players were. The weight room is the varsity weight room, not the football-basketball-baseball-softball-track-soccer weight room. The fact that you share such a narrow view of which teams should benefit from which school resources only proves my point. I mean, the only team who's brought home more national titles than the rifle team is track... yet let's just piss all over the little guys. Besides, I'm not just campaigning for rifle, but golf, tennis, swimming, and even volleyball. Every team should have access to good trainers and be given a workout program tailored for the necessities of their sport.
  15. the guy is full of it...he has his guy already. If you think for one second your feedback matters then your out of your minds!! It will be funny when those of you that pick Loeffler think you had anything to do with it, when he got the job almost a month ago....hey keep believing ....Go Zipsyeah, I'm pretty sure he knew he was getting rid of JD a while ago and began the search after he made up his mind.
  16. I agree with you on Oregon. I can't believe people dont like them, they have GREAT jerseys. To continue this amusing although irrelevant thread: The question is, which Oregon uniforms are you talking about? They have about fifteen, including at least four different helmets. A huge expense, until you understand that this is being underwritten by the Great God Nike. Probably a generation gap here, as I (a Boomer) hate those uniforms, while my football-playing son loves them. Uniforms might have a slight impact on potential recruits if they think they're COOL.I like them all. And yes i would think it does have an small impact on recruiting. Oregons best jerseys are not worn by football but by baseball...i cant find a good picture but their pin stripes are their fight song words. It's awesome.couldn't find a close up of the stripes but here you go:now if we could get these in our colors we'd be set:
  17. I'm going to be optimistic here (and that doesn't happen very often), but maybe the new coach will attract even better recruits just by who they are.
  18. Good. He may be the most amazing football strength and conditioning coach, but my only experience with him has been from the stand point that I am a lowly and unimportant athlete from one of those "non-revenue" sports and I should feel privileged that I was even allowed to set foot in his weight room. 19. Yeah, I found that cheesy and disappointing. I am physically unable to stand for that long, so I am stuck forgoing the whole event. Bummer.
  20. well you DO care or you wouldn't have said anything. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree too. If you look at the history of sport, sport development with the Greeks all developed around war-like activities. Javelin is spear throwing, running and jumping demonstrate physical prowess, and wrestling and boxing are hand to hand combat. As history went on, sport became more closely related to games but physical, emotional and mental strength are prized in both arenas, and that is why many sporting teams name themselves after fierce warriors or animals. How different is using such an analogy than using a Knight, Cavalier, or Spartan as a mascot? I don't see it as disrespect in the least.
  21. I have to say that's a very powerful quote and has now been added to my list of favorites. It's a great article all around. Only a few more hours until game time!
  22. As far as the Roberts not paying attention thing, it appeared to me that KD was giving some instructions to Roberts at the time, which is why he was completely looking the other way and not paying attention to the game. If that was the situation, that's a no win for him. Do you ignore your coach to play? Or do you pay attention to him, only to get your chops busted for missing a pass coming your way while listening?
  23. wrong thread. nvm
  24. ... not entirely true, but maybe things will get better with TW
