  1. O line puts up less resistance than a coed at closing time at 69 Taps.
  2. Can anyone on the coaching staff create a scenario that the Zips begin to be consistent on offense? To me that is the question.
  3. Would someone, anyone make an open field tackle??????
  4. I enjoyed my trip to Akron. I met Captain and tried to take in several local establishments. I will admit, I just don't get the student indifference to Zip football. The product is marketable, the band and dance team do a fine job, and the facility and amenities are very nice. I personally witnessed the Kansas State University turn around in the early 90's and regardless of the product, the students showed up at least for a half as it was a social event. I was just amazed by the lack of people in the area bars and the students that would pop in for a couple of shots and then back out the door. The bartender asked them if they were going to the game, and most said, "No, we're having party...." I know this is the choir, but I just wanted you to know the game day experience is fine. The Greeks, living areas, and campus groups need to take the lead. Again, I love coming to Akron. I will be in Norman, Oklahoma this week and then in Manhattan, KS the next, so I see several game day experiences each football season. Go Zips!
  5. Thanks. I will wander around a bit depending upon my son's schedule. He is generally busy on game day, so I will be left to my own devices. That may not be a good thing. Whatever! I've always said, "Rarely does a good story begin with a wise decision."
  6. The last time I wrote, I came with my son to visit Akron. Well he's been there for 9 months and I am coming for the game. I take it the lot at the south end across from The Score and Lot 9 are the best places to wander around and kill some time with tailgaters? He will be busy so I wanted to take in some pregame festivities with fans. Any other areas I should venture through?
  7. Thanks to those who helped out. We have lots of options, and will see how the day progresses through some other commitments. My only hang up has been that there are really no hotel options close to campus or downtown. I guess we will check south and west. We can't go northeast on this game weekend. Go Zips!
  8. Zip fans, Please excuse my newbie status. My college aged son and I are headed to Akron for the Nov. 27th game. To say we are ignorant about the Zips and the Akron area is a major understatement. I don't want to get too personal about why we are attending, but we are looking at the university and the athletics environment. We really want to get a feel for the city. I need help for game day places to go, sports bars for Thanksgiving evening, local food, even good places to stay near downtown?and campus?. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I see the Zips are playing Charleston Southern in hoops that evening. I actually have seen them play, and don't take the Buccaneers too lightly. They aren't world beaters, but aren't patsies either. We will probably catch that game as well. Thanks in advance.
